The Adams County Supervised Release Program is a Sheriff’s Office track that lets certain people serve court-ordered supervision in the community instead of in the Adams County Jail, with orientation, an assigned case manager, and conditions that commonly include check-ins and drug testing. Enrolling and Attending Orientation
Enrollment starts with that phone call. Orientation is an in-person group session held at set times each week:1Adams County Sheriff Office. Supervised Release Program
- Monday and Friday at 8:30 a.m.
- Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
- Thursday at 3:00 p.m. (Spanish only)
Before you show up, download and complete the SRP Orientation Paperwork from the Sheriff’s Office website. If you’re being supervised by another jurisdiction as well, fill out a Release of Information Form. Completed paperwork is submitted through the program’s online link. Your Case Manager and Check-Ins

Check-ins go through the program’s online Check-In Page. Your case manager handles questions about your supervision plan, scheduling conflicts, and any change in your housing or employment. Tell them about changes before they become problems. Unreported changes are one of the fastest ways to end up in violation status.
Conditions You Can Expect
Your specific conditions come from the court order in your case and the program’s own assessment. SRP does not post a single standard list. Colorado law lets courts require periodic phone contact with the program, scheduled office visits, home visits, substance use or mental health treatment, drug and alcohol testing, electronic or GPS monitoring, and pretrial work release.3FindLaw. Courts are supposed to impose the least restrictive conditions that reasonably ensure you appear for court and that the community stays safe. Any behavioral condition not required by statute has to be tailored to a specific concern rather than imposed as a blanket rule.4Justia Law. Colorado Revised Statutes Section 16-4-103
If GPS or ankle monitoring is ordered, Colorado law generally places the cost on the participant when income after necessary expenses allows it. Raise financial hardship with your case manager early. Silently falling behind on payments creates a violation risk that is entirely avoidable if you communicate first.
Drug and Alcohol Testing Locations

- Brighton Office: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed noon to 1:00 p.m.
- Thornton Office: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed noon to 12:30 p.m.
- Longmont Office: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with monitoring hours 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed noon to 1:00 p.m.
Additional UA sites operate in Boulder, Golden, Greeley, and Pueblo, along with evening-only monitoring locations. Whether your testing is random call-in or on a fixed schedule will be spelled out in your supervision plan. If you can’t get there during posted hours, call your case manager before the missed test, not after.
What the Program Costs
SRP does not publish a fee schedule. Participants in Colorado supervised release generally should plan for some combination of the following:
- A monthly supervision or administrative fee, with amounts varying by jurisdiction
- A daily or monthly electronic monitoring fee if GPS or ankle monitoring is ordered
- Per-test fees for drug and alcohol testing
- Separate costs for court-ordered substance abuse or mental health treatment, though some providers use a sliding scale
Colorado courts are required to consider your financial condition when setting bond conditions, and the same principle applies here. If the numbers don’t work, tell your case manager and, if needed, your attorney.
What Happens If You Violate
Violations can bring anything from a warning to a return to custody. The path depends on whether your supervision is pretrial or post-conviction.
On pretrial release, a court can modify your conditions, impose sanctions including up to 30 days in jail, or revoke your release if no set of conditions will reasonably ensure your appearance or prevent new charges. You have the right to counsel at a revocation hearing and the chance to present evidence.
On post-conviction supervision, a violation leads to a revocation hearing before a judge. There is no jury. The judge decides whether a violation occurred by a preponderance of the evidence, which is a lower standard than the one used at trial, and then decides whether to modify your conditions or send you back to custody.
Absconding is the worst thing you can do. If a warrant issues before your supervision term expires, the court keeps authority to revoke and impose custody time no matter how long passes, and you do not get credit toward your term for time as a fugitive.5SCOTUSblog. How SRP Differs From Work Release and Community Corrections
If you were told to contact SRP, you’re in the Sheriff’s Office supervised release track, not one of the other Adams County programs people sometimes confuse it with.
Work Release is a separate Inmate Services program that requires verified full-time employment of at least 32 hours per week and involves reporting to the Adams County Jail for orientation.2Adams County Sheriff Office. Work Release Program
Community Corrections is a different track entirely, run through halfway house facilities like the Adams County Opportunity Center. Placement requires approval by the Community Corrections Board, and a judge cannot sentence someone to community corrections without that approval.6Adams County, CO. Community Corrections
Standard probation through the 17th Judicial District is also a separate office. If your paperwork points you to probation rather than SRP, you’ll be dealing with the Brighton Probation Office instead.
