The main phone number for the Bexar County Jail is 210-335-6315, staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For questions about a specific person in custody — charges, bond amount, warrants, or release status — call Central Records at 210-335-6201. Have the inmate’s full legal name and date of birth ready before you dial; the clerk needs both to pull the record.
The Bexar County Adult Detention Center sits at 200 North Comal Street in San Antonio and is run by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Its daily population runs around 3,600, making it one of the largest jails in Texas.

Check Online Before You Call
Recent arrests can be looked up at centralmagistrate.bexar.org. The Central Magistrate Search covers anyone arrested for a Class B misdemeanor or higher and processed through the Central Magistrate Office within the last 24 hours. Results show the charges and the person’s State Identification number (SID), which the jail uses to track everyone in custody.
The tool only covers the most recent arrests. If the booking happened more than a day ago, or you need details beyond charges, call Central Records at 210-335-6201. Again — full legal name and date of birth.
Calling an Inmate Is Not Possible — They Have to Call You
The detention center does not take messages for inmates and does not connect incoming calls to them. All calls must be initiated by the inmate. Phone service inside the facility runs through ICSolutions, a third-party provider. Inmates can place collect calls billed to the recipient, or calls charged against a prepaid account funded from the outside.
Many cell carriers do not accept collect calls from jails, so the prepaid route is often the only one that works. To set up a prepaid account tied to your phone number:
- Online: icsonline.icsolutions.com, by credit or debit card.
- By phone: 1-888-506-8407. Bilingual customer service is available 24/7.
- By mail: Cashier’s check or money order to ICSolutions, Attn: Customer Service Department/Prepaid Account, 2200 Danbury Street, San Antonio, TX 78217. Include your name, address, and the phone number that will receive the calls.
Rates for inmate calls are capped under the FCC’s 2025 IPCS Order, which took effect April 6, 2026. Because Bexar County’s population exceeds 1,000, audio calls are limited to $0.10 per minute and video calls to $0.19 per minute, with no ancillary fees on deposits. A 15-minute call costs no more than $1.50. If you are being charged above those rates, you can file a complaint with the FCC.
Every call is recorded, and inmates are notified of this at intake. Attorney calls are the exception. Lawyers trying to reach a client should call 210-335-6315 to arrange unmonitored communication.
Bond Amounts and Posting Bond
Two different numbers handle bond questions, and the distinction matters.
To find out what someone’s bond is, call Central Records at 210-335-6201. To post bond, call the Booking and Release Satellite Office at 210-335-2592. The Satellite Office is in the basement of the Bexar County Courthouse at 100 Dolorosa Street, San Antonio, TX 78205, and handles bonds for non-violent, non-sexual offenses with no out-of-county or out-of-state warrants. Cases involving violent crimes, sexual offenses, or crimes against children must be processed at the main Justice Intake and Assessment Annex at 200 North Comal Street.
Before going in person, call 210-335-2592 first to confirm the warrant is active and a bond amount has been set. Bring a valid photo ID. You will be asked to provide two personal references during processing.
Sending Money Is Separate From Phone Calls
The most common point of confusion with Bexar County: putting money on an inmate’s books is not the same as funding a prepaid phone account. They go through different companies.
Phone calls to your number are paid through ICSolutions. Commissary and personal spending inside the jail run through Access Corrections Secure Deposits. To deposit money into an inmate’s trust fund:
- Online: accesscorrections.com
- By phone: 866-345-1884, 24 hours a day, with bilingual agents.
- Phone app: Access Corrections on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- In person: Cash deposits at participating retail locations. Find one at cashpaytoday.com or by calling 844-340-2274.
Money on one account does nothing for the other.
Video Visits
Bexar County uses ICSolutions’ “The Visitor” platform. You can visit remotely from your own computer or on-site at the facility, but either way you need to register at icsolutions.com first. Registration, scheduling, and funding all happen through the same portal. For scheduling or technical help, call ICSolutions at 888-646-9437 or the jail’s video visitation line at 210-335-8270. Video calls are capped at $0.19 per minute under the FCC order.
Blocking Calls From the Jail
If you are receiving unwanted calls from someone inside the facility, call ICSolutions at 888-506-8407 and ask for a “casual block” on your number. That stops any inmate from reaching your line through the jail’s phone system. If the calls involve harassment or threats, file a complaint with the detention center at 210-335-6315.
