The Brooklyn congressional districts map divides the borough among five U.S. House seats: the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. Each sends one representative to Congress, and because the lines cut through neighborhoods rather than following them cleanly, your exact street address is what determines which district you live in.

Look Up Your District by Address
Brooklyn’s district lines split some neighborhoods in half, so neighbors on the same block can land in different districts. The fastest check is the official U.S. House lookup tool, which matches your address to your representative and lists their contact information.7U.S. House of Representatives. The New York State Board of Elections voter lookup works just as well and shows your state senate, state assembly, and city council districts along with your congressional one. The NYC Board of Elections voter portal does the same. Both tools reflect the court-approved maps currently in effect.
Why the Current Map Looks the Way It Does
New York lost one congressional seat after the 2020 Census, dropping from 27 to 26, which forced every district line in the state to be redrawn. The map now in use for Brooklyn is the one the state’s Independent Redistricting Commission approved in a 9-1 vote in February 2024, after an earlier legislative map was struck down by the New York Court of Appeals in Harkenrider v. Hochul and a separate ruling in Hoffmann v. New York State Independent Redistricting Commission ordered the commission back to work.8Justia. Matter of Hoffmann v New York State Ind. What Your Representative’s Office Can Do Once You’ve Found It
Beyond voting on legislation, congressional offices handle casework for constituents. If you’re dealing with a delayed passport, a stalled immigration case, a missing Social Security payment, or a problem with veterans’ benefits, your representative’s district office staff can intervene with the federal agency involved. A congressional inquiry attached to your file won’t guarantee the outcome, but it tends to move things along.
Each of Brooklyn’s five representatives keeps at least one district office in the borough. You’ll find the address, phone number, and contact form for yours through the House lookup tool at house.gov.7U.S. House of Representatives.
