Can You Get a Same-Day Replacement EBT Card in Arizona?

You can get a same-day replacement EBT card in Arizona by visiting a local DES Family Assistance Administration office that issues cards over the counter. Every other method, whether online, through the mobile app, or by phone, triggers a mailed replacement that takes roughly five business days to arrive. Before you do anything else, freeze the card so no one else can spend your benefits while you wait.

Freeze the Card Before You Do Anything Else

Arizona EBT cards are not insured. You are personally responsible for any transactions made with your card and PIN, which means benefits spent by a thief before you report the card are gone.1Arizona Department of Economic Security. Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Card

The fastest ways to freeze the card:

  • Log into www.ebtedge.com and freeze the card through account settings.
  • Open the ebtEDGE mobile app (Google Play or the Apple App Store) and freeze it from your phone.
  • Call FIS Customer Service at 1-888-997-9333 (TTY: 1-800-367-8939), available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.2Arizona Department of Economic Security. Arizona EBT Quest Card Brochure

Reporting the card as lost or stolen by phone freezes it and starts the replacement at the same time.

Walk Into a DES Office for a Same-Day Card

Arizona’s Family Assistance Administration offices can issue EBT cards over the counter for emergencies or when a participant asks for one in person.3Arizona Department of Economic Security. 03 Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) QUEST Card This is the closest thing Arizona offers to a guaranteed same-day replacement.

A few practical points before you go:

  • Not every office has card-printing equipment available at all times. Call the office first so you don’t waste a trip.
  • Bring a photo ID.
  • Be ready to verify your case information.

Request a Mailed Replacement If You Can Wait

If you don’t need the card today, three channels will order a replacement:

  • Online at www.ebtedge.com, using the card management feature after logging in.
  • The ebtEDGE mobile app, following the prompts to report the card lost, stolen, or damaged.
  • By phone at 1-888-997-9333, using the automated prompts.2Arizona Department of Economic Security. Arizona EBT Quest Card Brochure

All three routes feed the same fulfillment process. The vendor mails the replacement to the address on file within two business days, and the card typically arrives within about five business days of the request.3Arizona Department of Economic Security. 03 Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) QUEST Card It comes in a plain envelope.

Check the Address on File First

The card goes to whichever address DES has on file. If you’ve moved and haven’t updated your case, the replacement will be mailed to your old address. Update your address through the MyFamilyBenefits portal at myfamilybenefits.azdes.gov or by contacting a DES representative before you place the request.

What a Replacement Costs

Your first replacement each calendar year is free. Every additional replacement in the same year costs $5, deducted from your benefit balance.1Arizona Department of Economic Security. Set a New PIN Before You Shop

The replacement card won’t work until you create a new four-digit PIN. You can do this three ways:1Arizona Department of Economic Security. Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Card

  • By phone at 1-888-997-9333.
  • Online at www.ebtedge.com.
  • Through the ebtEDGE mobile app.

Pick something memorable but not easy to guess, don’t reuse an old PIN, and never share it, including with store employees.

If You Request Too Many Replacements

Arizona tracks how often you order new cards. If you or an alternate cardholder on your case requests three or more replacements within 12 months, DES will issue the card but may hold it until you contact the agency to explain the pattern.1Arizona Department of Economic Security. On a fourth request in 12 months, federal SNAP rules require the state to send a written notice warning that the account is being monitored for suspicious activity. A further request after that, with trafficking suspected, must be referred to the fraud investigation unit.4eCFR. 7 CFR 274.6 – Replacement Issuances and Cards to Households Legitimate reasons like theft or damage won’t get you in trouble, but expect to explain the history.

A Replacement Card Does Not Restore Stolen Benefits

If someone skimmed your card or stole your PIN and drained the account, a new card protects future deposits but does not recover what’s already gone. The federal program that let states reimburse stolen SNAP benefits expired on December 20, 2024.5Food and Nutrition Service. Replacing Stolen SNAP Benefits: State Plan Approvals As of 2026, benefits stolen through skimming or unauthorized use are not eligible for federal replacement. Congress could restore the authority later, but no extension has been enacted. That is why freezing the card the moment you notice it missing matters so much.
