Can You Track Your Ohio EBT Card in the Mail?

You cannot track your Ohio EBT card in the mail the way you’d track a package. The Ohio Direction Card ships through USPS first-class mail in a plain, non-forwarding envelope, and first-class mail carries no tracking number. What you can do is know the delivery window, confirm by phone that the card was sent, and request a replacement quickly if it doesn’t show up.

When to Expect the Card

Most people receive the Ohio Direction Card within 7 to 10 calendar days after approval or after a replacement request is processed. That count includes weekends and holidays, even though mail isn’t delivered on those days.1Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. EBT FAQs Frequently Asked Questions for Cardholders Federal rules require new SNAP households to have an opportunity to use benefits no later than 30 calendar days after filing, so the state mails cards early enough to meet that deadline.2eCFR. 7 CFR 274.2 Providing Benefits to Participants Benefits may already be loaded to your account before the card arrives, but you can’t spend them without the physical card and a PIN.

The envelope is plain white with nothing on it that identifies it as an EBT card. If anyone else in your household sorts the mail, warn them to watch for an unmarked envelope so it doesn’t get thrown out by mistake. If your PIN is mailed separately, federal rules require it to go out at least one business day after the card.2eCFR. 7 CFR 274.2 Providing Benefits to Participants

Why There’s No Online Tracking

You might see suggestions to log into ebtEDGE, the cardholder portal, to check delivery status. That won’t work before your first card arrives. Logging in requires the 16-digit number printed on the card and a PIN, neither of which you have yet.3ebtEDGE. Cardholder Login Using Existing PIN The portal is useful once you have the card, but it does not show a card’s location in transit.

How to Confirm the Card Was Mailed

To confirm that a card was issued and sent, call EBT customer service at 1-866-386-3071 and follow the automated prompts.1Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. EBT FAQs Frequently Asked Questions for Cardholders The system can tell you whether a card was dispatched and when. You can also call your local county Department of Job and Family Services to check your application status and verify the mailing address on file. A wrong address is one of the most common reasons a card never arrives, and the county is the office that can correct it.

If the Card Doesn’t Arrive in 10 Days

If 10 calendar days have passed with no card, call 1-866-386-3071 to request a replacement. The missing card is deactivated right away so no one else can use it, and a new card goes out on the same 7-to-10-calendar-day mailing cycle. If you already have an ebtEDGE account from a previous card, you can also request a replacement through the mobile app.4FIS Global. ebtEDGE App – Manage EBT Benefits With FIS

Ohio tracks how often you request replacements. The first three in a rolling 12-month period go out without extra steps. The fourth triggers a written notice but you still get the card. Starting with the fifth request in that 12-month window, the system pauses: you have to contact your county JFS office and explain why you keep needing replacements before a new card is released. Once you’ve made contact, the county still has to make the replacement available within two business days.5Ohio Legislative Service Commission.
