The main phone number for the Colorado Springs Police Department is 719-444-7000, the non-emergency dispatch line, staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For an emergency, call 911. The department’s headquarters, the Police Operations Center, is at 705 S. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903, with a lobby open around the clock.
When to Call 911
Dial 911 if someone is in immediate danger or a crime is happening right now. The call routes to the El Paso-Teller County 9-1-1 Authority, which dispatches police, fire, and medical responders. Use it for an assault in progress, a break-in while someone is home, a serious crash with injuries, or any situation where seconds matter.
When to Call 719-444-7000
The non-emergency line is the right call for anything that does not involve an active threat. Use it to report a theft that already happened, document vandalism or property damage for an insurance claim, file a noise complaint, or flag a parking violation. Dispatchers prioritize these reports by severity and send patrol officers out accordingly.
Reports filed through non-emergency dispatch still generate a formal police record. That record is usually the document an insurance company or civil attorney will later ask you to produce.
Reporting Online Instead of Calling
For many minor crimes, you can skip the phone and file a report through CSPD’s online system. Eligible incidents include identity theft, theft of money or property, shoplifting, vehicle part or license plate theft, break-ins to sheds or detached garages, online scams, restaurant bill skips, coin-operated machine break-ins, and minor traffic accidents. You must be at least 18, provide a valid email, and the crime must have occurred within city limits. Online filing is not available for domestic violence, hate crimes, or cases involving certain vulnerable victims.
A CSPD employee reviews each submission within three business days and emails you either a permanent case number or an explanation of why the report was rejected for online filing. Questions about the online system go to the online reporting unit at 719-444-7652.
Division Substation Numbers
CSPD splits the city into four geographic divisions, each with its own substation. Calling the one closest to you reaches staff familiar with that part of the city.
- Falcon Division: 719-444-7240
- Gold Hill Division: 719-385-2100
- Sand Creek Division: 719-444-7270
- Stetson Hills Division: 719-444-3140
Direct Numbers for Specific Needs
Police Reports and Records
Copies of police reports, traffic accident reports, and criminal records come through the Records and Identification Section at 719-444-7463. The base fee is $10.00 for the first five pages of a report, with additional pages at $0.25 each.
Body-Worn Camera Footage
Body camera video uses a separate process. You submit a BWC request form from the CSPD website, after which a third-party vendor handles redaction and contacts you with a price quote. Payment goes to the vendor, not the department. Because of demand, expect 20 weeks or more from submission to delivery.
Property and Evidence
To retrieve seized belongings or found property, call the Property and Evidence Office at 719-444-7744. Schedule an appointment during normal business hours before going in. The office is at the Police Operations Center on South Nevada Avenue.
Victim Advocacy
The Victim Advocacy Unit helps people affected by crime with safety planning, court accompaniment, and referrals to community resources. Reach the unit at 719-444-7777 or Victim.AdvocacyUnit@coloradosprings.gov.
Impounded Vehicles
The CSPD impound lot sits at 2725 East Las Vegas Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906, phone 719-667-2777. One catch: vehicles towed as abandoned or after a crash often go to a private contracted tow company instead. Before driving out, use the vehicle search tool on the city’s impound website to confirm where your car actually is.
Mental Health or Behavioral Crisis
Colorado Springs runs a Community Response Team staffed by fire, police, and the behavioral health provider AspenPointe, but there is no dedicated public line to request them. If you think a crisis response fits the situation better than a standard police response, say so when you call 719-444-7000 or 911, and dispatch can route accordingly. For crisis support independent of law enforcement, the Colorado Crisis Services Hotline is 1-844-493-8255, or text TALK to 38255.
Complaints About an Officer
CSPD’s Internal Affairs Unit takes complaints about officer conduct at 719-444-7417 or CSPD.InternalAffairs@coloradosprings.gov. Complaints can be anonymous, you will not be asked about immigration status, and you do not have to interact with the officer involved. Complaints can also go to the Colorado Attorney General’s Office or the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
