SoonerSelect does cover vision care. Children under 21 get comprehensive coverage, including routine eye exams and up to two pairs of glasses a year. Adults 21 and older get a routine annual eye exam and an allowance toward glasses or contact lenses every two years, offered as a value-added benefit by each of the three SoonerSelect health plans. That adult benefit is new under SoonerSelect; traditional SoonerCare did not pay for routine eye exams or glasses for adults over 21.1Oklahoma Health Care Authority. Adult Vision Benefits by Plan
Every SoonerSelect plan must cover the same baseline services, but each one adds its own extras. Routine adult vision care is one of those extras, so the exam cost and eyewear allowance depend on which plan you’re in.2Oklahoma Health Care Authority. About SoonerSelect All three cover one eye exam a year and an eyewear allowance once every two years.3Oklahoma Health Care Authority. SoonerSelect Health VAB Comparison Chart
Aetna Better Health of Oklahoma

Humana covers one annual eye exam at no cost. A standard frame from a supplied collection is available at no cost if you’d rather not spend the retail allowance.6Humana. Vision Coverage – Oklahoma Medicaid
Oklahoma Complete Health

Vision Coverage for Children Under 21
Children’s vision care is broader and is the same across all three plans, because it’s required by federal Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment rules rather than offered as a plan extra. Covered services include routine eye exams, up to two pairs of eyeglasses (lenses and frames) per calendar year, and replacement or additional lenses when medically necessary. Specialty lenses such as progressives, trifocals, and photochromic lenses are covered when they meet the medical necessity standard, and low-vision optical devices and services are also included. Children have no copays for vision services.9Oklahoma Complete Health. Member Vision Benefits
Contact Lenses
For adults, contact lenses are an alternative to glasses within the same every-two-year allowance: $100 at Humana, $150 at Aetna and Oklahoma Complete Health. You pick one or the other, not both, in a given cycle.6Humana. Vision Coverage – Oklahoma Medicaid4Aetna Better Health of Oklahoma. Value Added Benefits Booklet
Contact lenses are also covered at any age when they’re medically necessary and no other method can correct the visual defect. Qualifying conditions include aphakia, keratoconus, post-keratoplasty, aniseikonia or anisometropia, and albinism. Bandage contact lenses are covered when medically necessary. After cataract surgery, members are entitled to one pair of standard frames and lenses, or contact lenses, per eye, per lifetime.9Oklahoma Complete Health. Member Vision Benefits
Finding a Vision Provider in Your Plan
Each plan has its own network, so confirm the provider takes your specific SoonerSelect plan before you book. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority keeps a central provider directory, and each plan has its own search as well.10Oklahoma Health Care Authority. Find a Provider Aetna’s search lives at AetnaBetterHealth.com/Oklahoma. Humana members can use the “Find Care” tool or their MyHumana account.6Humana. Switching Plans If You Want a Better Vision Benefit
Because the eyewear allowance differs by plan, some members switch to get a higher amount. You can only change plans during the annual open enrollment window. The 2026 open enrollment runs May 1 through June 12, 2026, with the new benefit year starting July 1, 2026.11Sooner Health Access Network. If You’re Not in SoonerSelect
Not every Oklahoma Medicaid member is in SoonerSelect, and the value-added vision benefits above only apply to people who are. Excluded groups include Medicare-Medicaid dual eligibles, people eligible on the basis of age, blindness, or disability, nursing facility residents, Home and Community Based Services waiver participants, and Insure Oklahoma members.14Medicaid.gov.
