The Dynamic SLR lawsuit that draws the most attention is a Dallas County partnership fraud case brought by former associates who say they were cheated out of a 21.7% ownership stake in the Richardson, Texas solar company. That case is still unresolved. Alongside it, the company, now operating as Dynamic EcoHome, has racked up dozens of consumer complaints alleging deceptive sales tactics of the same kind the Texas Attorney General has started suing other solar firms over.
The Partnership Fraud Case in Dallas County
John Lee, together with Code Blue Solar, LLC and NXT LVL Consulting, LLC, sued Dynamic SLR and its counsel at Verge Law PC, including attorney Kyle Kertz, alleging the company and its lawyers defrauded them and forced them out of a 21.7% ownership position they had obtained through a partnership with Dynamic SLR.1600commerce.com. In Re John Lee, Code Blue Solar, LLC and NXT LVL Consulting, LLC The case is pending in Dallas County Court at Law No. 4 as cause number CC-22-04389-D.
Dynamic SLR, Mohammad Elashi, and Synaptic Solar, LLC tried to stop the case from moving forward. They filed a plea in abatement, which the trial court denied on July 10, 2023. They then sought mandamus relief at the Fifth Court of Appeals, which denied the petition on April 17, 2024 in a memorandum opinion by Justice Amanda Lea Reichek.2Justia. In Re Dynamic SLR Inc., No. 05-23-00908-CV They escalated to the Supreme Court of Texas, which denied their mandamus petition on November 15, 2024, closing off that avenue of appeal and leaving the Dallas County lawsuit in place.3SCOTX Blog. The Gag Order and Why It Was Thrown Out
The dispute spilled onto social media, where Lee posted videos that Verge Law’s counsel called harassing and that tagged Kyle Kertz’s accounts. Verge filed an emergency motion, and on July 17, 2023 the trial court entered a gag order barring social media posts about the lawsuit and the parties.1600commerce.com. Lee’s side challenged the order by mandamus. On March 15, 2024, the Fifth Court of Appeals conditionally granted relief and directed the trial court to vacate the gag order, holding that it was a presumptively unconstitutional prior restraint and that the record did not show the social media activity posed an imminent, irreparable threat to the proceedings or that less restrictive measures had been considered.1600commerce.com. What Homeowners Are Complaining About
The Better Business Bureau lists 51 complaints against the company under its Dynamic EcoHome profile over the past three years, 14 of them in the last 12 months. Forty of the 51 involve service or repair issues.5Better Business Bureau. Dynamic EcoHome Complaints
The complaints repeat a pattern. Homeowners say sales reps promised large reductions in their electric bills, then found themselves paying both a solar loan and their regular utility charges. One customer reported financing a $60,000 system they said was twice the size their home needed. Others described equipment failing within three years, burnt wires, and vent pipes cut short and covered by panels, which led to pest problems.5Better Business Bureau. Dynamic EcoHome Complaints
Several customers also said they were misled about the federal solar tax credit, including one who was told by a lender that the full credit would apply in a single year. When homeowners sought warranty work, some were told their address was outside the service area or that they would have to hire their own electrician and request reimbursement.
One customer cited a company document stating that any “miscommunication about the efficacy or capability of the solar system is not the responsibility of Dynamic SLR” and that its sales representatives “may lack specific expertise” on technical specifications.5Better Business Bureau. Dynamic EcoHome Complaints In its BBB responses, the company has generally said solar systems are designed to offset usage rather than eliminate electric bills, and that performance depends on utility rate plans and household consumption.
Where Texas Enforcement Stands
Dynamic SLR has not been named in any known state enforcement action. In May 2026, Attorney General Ken Paxton sued CAM Solar Inc., a San Antonio-based solar company, under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act over allegations that track the complaints lodged against Dynamic SLR: misrepresented energy savings, defective installations, unresponsive service, and misleading tax-credit claims.6Texas Attorney General.
