Florida Sales Tax Rate at Disney World in Orange County

The Disney World sales tax rate is 6.5% across most of the resort, which sits in Orange County, Florida. A southern strip of the property falls inside Osceola County, where the rate climbs to 7.5%. Hotel rooms carry an additional 6% tourist development tax on top of those figures, pushing lodging totals to 12.5% or 13.5% depending on which county your resort is in.

The 6.5% Rate in Orange County

Florida’s state sales tax is 6%, and Orange County adds a 0.5% discretionary surtax for a combined 6.5%.1Florida Department of Revenue. Florida Sales and Use Tax2Florida Department of Revenue. Discretionary Sales Surtax Information for Calendar Year 2026 That rate covers nearly everything a typical guest buys: merchandise, meals, snacks, and park admission.

The Orange County portion includes all four theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom) along with Disney Springs. If you spend your day inside a park or shopping and dining at Disney Springs, you’re paying 6.5%.

The 7.5% Rate in Osceola County

Osceola County imposes a 1.5% discretionary surtax, bringing the combined rate on purchases there to 7.5%.2Florida Department of Revenue. On a single $50 souvenir, the difference is small: $53.25 in Orange County versus $53.75 in Osceola. The gap grows if you stay at an All-Star Resort and do most of your shopping and dining at that resort, because everything you buy there carries the higher rate.

Hotel Taxes: Add the Tourist Development Tax

Room rates get taxed more heavily than merchandise because a separate 6% tourist development tax (the “bed tax”) stacks on top of sales tax and surtax. Both Orange and Osceola Counties impose that 6% rate.3Florida Office of Economic and Demographic Research. 2026 Local Option Tourist Tax Rates Florida authorizes the tax under Section 125.0104.4The Florida Legislature. Florida Code 125.0104 – Tourist Development Tax; Procedure for Levying; Authorized Uses; Referendum; Enforcement

So the total tax on a Disney hotel room works out to:

  • 12.5% at Orange County resorts (6% state + 0.5% surtax + 6% bed tax)
  • 13.5% at Osceola County resorts (6% state + 1.5% surtax + 6% bed tax)

A $300 nightly rate generates $37.50 in taxes on the Orange County side and $40.50 on the Osceola side. Over a five-night stay, that gap comes out to about $15. The surtax applies to the full room rate without the usual $5,000-per-transaction cap, so every dollar of the nightly charge is taxed at the local rate no matter how expensive the room.5Florida Department of Revenue. Florida Sales Tax Holidays

Florida passes sales tax holidays each year that temporarily exempt qualifying items such as clothing, school supplies, and electronics. Dates and item limits change year to year. When a holiday overlaps your trip, qualifying purchases at Disney shops are exempt from both the state tax and the county surtax. Past holidays have covered clothing priced at $100 or less and school supplies under $50. Check the Florida Department of Revenue’s website before you travel for the current schedule.
