Where the District Is
Most of FL-25 sits in Broward County, with a substantial eastern arm extending into northern Miami-Dade. On the Broward side, the district takes in Weston, Davie, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Cooper City, Southwest Ranches, Hallandale Beach, Dania Beach, Sunrise, Lauderhill, Tamarac, Coconut Creek, Pompano Beach, and North Lauderdale, plus parts of Miramar, Plantation, and Fort Lauderdale.1U.S. Census Bureau. Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Congress
Wasserman Schultz has served in the U.S. House since 2005. She was first elected to the old 20th District, represented the 23rd District from 2013 through 2022, and moved to the newly drawn 25th when the current map took effect.5Congress.gov. FL-25 has a population of about 781,000. Roughly 44.5% of residents identify as Hispanic or Latino, and more than half of the population speaks a language other than English at home. Politically, the district leans Democratic. How the 2022 Redistricting Changed FL-25
If you remember an older Florida 25th District that stretched west into the Everglades and took in parts of Collier and Hendry counties, that map is gone. The current FL-25 is essentially the successor to the old 23rd District that Wasserman Schultz represented from 2013 to 2022.
