- Loud noise complaints such as parties, barking dogs, or construction outside permitted hours
- Lost personal items like wallets, phones, or passports

Minor Traffic Accidents
Georgia law requires drivers to report any accident with property damage of $500 or more.8Justia. - Theft, including theft from a vehicle and theft of lost or mislaid property
- Identity fraud, where someone uses your personal or business information for a financial crime
- Criminal trespass involving vandalism or property damage of $500 or less

Online reporting works well when you need a report number for insurance but an officer visit would add nothing. A vehicle break-in with no witnesses and no camera footage is the standard example.
What to Have Ready Before You Dial
- Location: exact street address, or the two nearest cross streets
- What happened: a brief, factual description
- When it happened, or when you discovered it
- People or vehicles involved, with make, model, color, and plate if you have them
- Your name and a callback number
Being specific shortens the call and gets the right unit assigned faster.
What Happens After You Call
Non-emergency calls enter a queue ranked by severity. The dispatcher will give you an incident number. Write it down. That number is how you pull the report later for insurance or any legal follow-up.
Do not expect a patrol car in minutes. Officers work non-emergency calls between higher-priority assignments, so response times swing widely with whatever else is happening that shift. Sometimes an officer will phone you back rather than come out, especially when there is nothing to investigate at the scene.
