How Do I Get a Copy of My AZ TPT License? Request, Display, Renewal

To get a copy of your AZ TPT license, you have to request a duplicate by mail from the Arizona Department of Revenue. The AZTaxes.gov portal does not let you print or download the license certificate, even though it handles almost everything else about your account. ADOR mails the physical certificate after you submit a paper request and pay the duplicate fee.

What to Have Ready Before You Request a Duplicate

You’ll need your TPT license number and the Federal Employer Identification Number or Social Security Number used when you originally registered. If you can’t find your EIN confirmation, call the IRS business line at 1-800-829-4933 and ask for an EIN Verification Letter (Form 147C); they can fax it while you’re on the phone.

Confirm the business mailing address ADOR has on file before you send anything. The duplicate certificate ships to whatever address is in their system, and if it’s wrong the license goes back to the state and you wait through processing again.

Why You Can’t Just Print It From AZTaxes.gov

The portal is built for renewals, filing, payments, and account updates. It does not produce a printable license certificate.1Arizona Department of Revenue. TPT License That catches people off guard because other states let you pull certificates on demand. Arizona doesn’t. The certificate exists as a physical document mailed by ADOR, and a duplicate follows the same path.

If you never set up an AZTaxes.gov login or lost access, you can still request the duplicate by mail without one. You’ll want the account working for renewals, but it isn’t required to get a copy of the license itself.

How to Submit the Duplicate Request

ADOR uses Form 11188 for business account updates, which you’ll find on the department’s TPT Forms page.2Arizona Department of Revenue. TPT Forms Check the box for a duplicate license request, fill in your current business name and tax identification details, and have an authorized person on the account sign it. That means an officer, partner, or owner listed with ADOR, not just anyone in the office.

The state fee for a duplicate is $12, plus any applicable city or municipal fees if your business locations sit in jurisdictions that charge them.3Arizona Department of Revenue. License Fees, Cancellation and Other Changes ADOR will not process the request until the fee clears, so include payment with the form. Different form types route to different P.O. Boxes, so use the mailing address the form instructions specify, or check ADOR’s mailing addresses page.4Arizona Department of Revenue. Mailing Addresses

Processing generally takes several weeks and varies with filing volume. There isn’t a rush option, so if you need the certificate for a new location’s opening, send the request as early as you can.

Where the License Has to Be Displayed

Arizona requires every business with a public location in the state to display its TPT license where customers can see it, and each location needs its own certificate.5Legal Information Institute. Arizona Admin Code R15-5-2201 – Display and Issuance of License That’s the usual reason people ask for a duplicate: a new storefront, a damaged original, or a certificate that walked off during a move.

Remote sellers and marketplace facilitators with no physical presence in Arizona are not treated as maintaining a public place of business, so the display rule doesn’t reach them.5Legal Information Institute. Keep the Renewal Current, or ADOR Won’t Send the Certificate

A TPT license is valid only for the calendar year in which it’s issued. Renewal is due January 1 and becomes delinquent if ADOR hasn’t received it by the last business day of January.6Arizona Department of Revenue. Renewing a TPT License The state renewal itself is free, but municipal renewal fees may apply, and the penalty for late city renewal is 50 percent of the city renewal fee.

This matters for anyone requesting a duplicate: ADOR will not deliver a new license certificate until all fees on the account are paid. If you’re behind, clear the balance first, then submit the duplicate request. Businesses with more than one location are required to renew electronically through AZTaxes.gov rather than on paper.6Arizona Department of Revenue.
