Who Needs an In-Person Appointment
Whether you need to schedule a knowledge test at all depends on your age and driver training path. If you enroll in an approved driver training course, the knowledge test is built into the course and you do not schedule a separate appointment at a testing location. What You’re Booking: Format and Passing Score

If You Don’t Pass
Failing doesn’t end the process, but there may be a waiting period before you can retest, and the DOL doesn’t publish a specific number of days on its main testing page.6Washington State Department of Licensing.
