To cancel a Boston Herald subscription, call customer service at (800) 882-1211. If you signed up on the Herald’s website, you can also cancel online at myaccount.bostonherald.com/bh/subscription/cancel. And if you subscribed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel through that platform, not through the Herald.1Boston Herald. Digital Subscription Frequently Asked Questions
Which method works for you depends entirely on how you originally signed up. Pick the wrong path and you’ll keep getting charged.

Canceling Online
If you started the subscription on the Herald’s website, go to myaccount.bostonherald.com/bh/subscription/cancel. To log in you’ll need a valid email address plus one of: your account number, the phone number on the account, or your address and zip code. Digital Subscription Frequently Asked Questions
The online portal only works for subscriptions started through the Herald’s own website. If you signed up by phone, through a mailer, or through an app store, use one of the other methods.
Canceling an App Store or Google Play Subscription
This is the step people miss. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, the billing relationship is with them, not the Herald. Calling the Herald won’t stop the charges. Neither will deleting the app.
iPhone or iPad
Open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. Find the Boston Herald entry, tap it, and tap Cancel Subscription. If there’s no Cancel button and instead a red expiration message, it’s already canceled.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
Android
Open your subscriptions in Google Play, select the Boston Herald, tap Cancel Subscription, and follow the prompts. If you can’t find it there, open the device Settings app, tap Google, then Manage Your Google Account, then Payments and Subscriptions, then Manage Subscriptions. Make sure you’re signed in with the Google account you used to subscribe.4Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
To confirm the cancellation went through, go back to the subscription settings. A canceled subscription shows an expiration date instead of a renewal date.
What Happens After You Cancel
You won’t get a refund. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access to digital content and any home delivery until that date. Pay for a month, cancel on day five, and you still get the remaining 25 days.1Boston Herald. Keep Proof in Case You’re Charged Again
Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot. If you canceled by phone and didn’t get anything in writing, send a follow-up to bhcirc@bostonherald.com noting the date and time of your call and, if you caught it, the representative’s name.2Boston Herald. Contact Us
Check your bank or credit card statement after the billing cycle you paid for ends. If a new charge appears after your cancellation should have taken effect, contact the Herald first. If that goes nowhere, dispute the charge with your card issuer and include your confirmation, the cancellation date, and the Herald’s stated policy that cancellations take effect at the end of the billing period.
