Tell Your Auto Insurer Too

WisDOT won’t pass your new address to your insurance company. Auto premiums are rated partly on where your car is parked overnight, so even a move within the same city can change what you pay. A denser neighborhood with higher theft or accident rates generally raises premiums; a lower-risk area or shorter commute can lower them. If you move without telling your insurer, a future claim can be delayed or denied because the policy was rated for the wrong location. Call your insurer as soon as you know the new address.
