You can check child support payments online in Mississippi through the Division of Child Support Enforcement’s portal at mdhs.ms.gov/childsupport. Once you register and log in, the system shows payment history and case details for both custodial and non-custodial parents, so you don’t have to call or visit a county office to see what has been received and disbursed.1Mississippi Department of Human Services. Where to Go and What You Need to Register
The main site is mdhs.ms.gov/childsupport, run by the Mississippi Department of Human Services. A related billing and notice system sits at ccis.mdhs.ms.gov and connects to individual case records.
To create an account, gather three things before you start:
- Your Mississippi child support case number, which appears on your court order and on any mail from MDHS
- Your Social Security number
- Your date of birth
The system uses those details to match you to the correct case and verify your identity. Once you’re verified, you’ll set a username and password. Keep them private. They open sensitive financial and legal records tied to your case. If you lose access later, the Child Support Call Center at 877-882-4916 can help you reset the account.1Mississippi Department of Human Services. Division of Child Support Enforcement
What Your Payment History Shows
After you log in, the dashboard displays payment history and case details. For each payment you’ll see the date the state received it, the dollar amount, and whether the money has been disbursed to the custodial parent or is still being processed.
Timing matters. Payments routed through the Mississippi State Disbursement Unit can take a few business days to post after they’re submitted, so a payment that was made this week may not appear in the system yet. If you’re a custodial parent watching for a deposit, give it a few business days before treating it as missing.
If a Payment Looks Wrong or Missing
Check your records regularly. Discrepancies happen, and catching one early is far easier than sorting out months of misapplied payments. If a payment you expected isn’t there, or an amount looks off, contact MDHS right away. Ledger errors can snowball into enforcement actions that are much harder to reverse once they’ve started.
Two direct channels work when the portal isn’t enough:
- Child Support Call Center: 877-882-4916. Staff can tell you whether a payment was received, whether it’s still processing, or whether the non-custodial parent has fallen behind.1Mississippi Department of Human Services. Division of Child Support Enforcement
- Document upload portal: cs-upload.mdhs.ms.gov, for submitting paperwork the case worker asks for.2Mississippi Department of Human Services. Receiving Child Support
You can also visit your county MDHS office in person. Bring your case number and a government-issued ID so staff can pull up the file with you.
Making a Payment Online
If you owe support and want to pay through the same system rather than wait for a payroll deduction to catch up, Mississippi offers a few options:3Mississippi Department of Human Services. Paying Child Support
- Bank account through iPayOnline at ipayonline.mssdu.net, with no processing fee
- Cash at a participating retailer through PayNearMe.com/Mississippi, with a $1.99 fee and a three-to-four business day posting time
- MoneyGram, with a $3.99 walk-in fee for cash or pin-based debit; online credit card fees vary
- Check or money order mailed to the State Disbursement Unit
Payroll deduction is still the most common method, because courts routinely include income withholding in support orders. Employers send the withheld amount to the State Disbursement Unit within seven business days, which is when it becomes visible in the online system.
A Note on Taxes
The dollar figures you see on the MDHS portal have no effect on your federal taxable income. Child support isn’t deductible for the parent who pays, and it isn’t taxable income for the parent who receives it, regardless of how the payment moves.4Internal Revenue Service.
