How to Check EBT Balance in Georgia: Phone, App, or ATM

To check your EBT balance in Georgia, call 1-888-421-3281, sign in to the ConnectEBT website or mobile app, or use any ATM or retail checkout that accepts EBT. Your balance shows both SNAP food benefits and any TANF cash assistance loaded to the card, so a quick check before you shop helps you avoid a declined transaction at the register.

What to Have Ready

Every method needs the 16-digit card number printed on the front of your EBT card. Most also ask for your four-digit PIN, which you chose when you activated the card.1Georgia Department of Human Services. SNAP Policy Manual – 3805 Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Forgot your PIN? Lock Your Card While You’re In There

Since you’re already signed in, it’s worth knowing about the card lock feature. When your card is locked, all purchases, balance inquiries, and transactions are blocked. Two settings are available: “Locked Outside of State” still allows online purchases but blocks in-person use outside Georgia, and “Locked Everywhere” stops all activity. An auto re-lock option can re-lock the card 30, 60, or 90 minutes after you unlock it to shop.2Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Family & Children Services. Check at an ATM or Retailer

At an ATM, insert your card, choose balance inquiry, and enter your PIN. Look for machines showing the Quest or EBT logo. Balance inquiries are free to the cardholder under Georgia’s EBT fee schedule.4Georgia Department of Human Services. TANF Policy Manual – 1910 Electronic Benefits Transfer

At a grocery store or other authorized retailer, ask the cashier to run a balance inquiry, or swipe your card at the payment terminal and choose the balance option before completing a purchase. After any EBT purchase, the remaining balance prints on the receipt under federal SNAP retailer rules.5Food and Nutrition Service. Why Your Balance Might Show Zero

If you check early in the month and see nothing, your deposit date probably hasn’t arrived. Georgia staggers SNAP deposits based on the last two digits of the head of household’s client ID number:6Georgia Department of Human Services. SNAP Policy Manual – 3810 Issuance

  • ID ends in 00–09: 5th of the month
  • ID ends in 10–19: 7th of the month
  • ID ends in 20–29: 9th of the month
  • ID ends in 30–39: 11th of the month
  • ID ends in 40–49: 13th of the month
  • ID ends in 50–59: 15th of the month
  • ID ends in 60–69: 17th of the month
  • ID ends in 70–79: 19th of the month
  • ID ends in 80–89: 21st of the month
  • ID ends in 90–99: 23rd of the month

Your client ID appears on correspondence from DFCS. If your deposit date falls on a weekend or holiday, benefits typically post the business day before. Unused Benefits Can Expire

If you’re checking a balance you haven’t touched in a while, this matters. Under federal rules, SNAP benefits sitting untouched are permanently removed after nine months (274 days) of inactivity. An account is inactive when no transaction has changed the balance, such as a purchase or return.7eCFR. 7 CFR 274.2 – Providing Benefits to Participants Georgia may also move benefits to offline storage after 91 days of inactivity, which makes them temporarily inaccessible until you contact your local DFCS office.

Benefits stored offline but not yet expunged must be restored within 48 hours of you contacting the agency.7eCFR. 7 CFR 274.2 – Providing Benefits to Participants Once the nine-month window passes, those benefits are gone. The state must send you a notice before expunging, but an outdated mailing address means you may never see it. Even a small purchase resets the clock.
