What to Have Ready Before You Call
Keep the physical ACCESS card in front of you. The Primary Account Number printed across the front is 19 digits, not 16, and Pennsylvania’s EBT system uses all of them to pull up your account.2Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. If the card is brand new and hasn’t been used yet, call the same number and follow the prompts for first-time cardholders. The system verifies the child’s date of birth and then lets you choose a PIN. Once set, that PIN works at the register, on the phone line, and for online access.
Making the Call
Dial 1-888-328-7366. Pick a language at the first prompt. Enter the 19-digit card number on the keypad, then the four-digit PIN. The recording reads your balance and offers additional menu options, including recent transaction history.1Department of Human Services. This is the method most people reach for in a store aisle when they’re trying to work out whether there’s enough left for the week’s groceries.
If You’ve Forgotten Your PIN
You can change or reset your PIN through the same 1-888-328-7366 line, through the ConnectEBT website, or through the ConnectEBT app.3Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If Your Card Is Lost or Stolen
Call 1-888-328-7366 right away. The system cancels the old card so it can’t be used and then processes a replacement. Lost and stolen reports are handled around the clock.1Department of Human Services. Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Your benefits stay safe in the state’s electronic system while you wait; you simply can’t access them until the new card arrives.
Pennsylvania gives you one free replacement per account. After that, a $2.50 fee is deducted from your account for each replacement. Damaged or defective cards can be swapped free of charge at your County Assistance Office no matter how many replacements you’ve had.4Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. If you suspect someone has copied your card but you still have the physical card in hand, the Card Lock feature in ConnectEBT blocks purchases without canceling the card. Deposits still post while the lock is on, and you can unlock it in the app or on the website when you’re ready to shop.1Department of Human Services. Other Ways to Check the Balance
The phone line isn’t your only option. Any of these show the same balance:
ConnectEBT website and app. ConnectEBT is run by Conduent, the company that manages Pennsylvania’s EBT system. Log in at connectebt.com or through the free ConnectEBT app on Apple or Google Play. myCOMPASS PA app. The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ myCOMPASS PA app pulls multiple state benefit programs into a single dashboard where you can check what you receive, look at application status, upload documents, and report changes.5Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. MyCOMPASS PA
Your last store receipt. Federal rules require every SNAP-authorized retailer to print your remaining balance on the receipt whenever you pay with an EBT card.6Food and Nutrition Service. A Note on P-EBT and SUN Bucks
The federal Pandemic EBT program ended in 2023. States had to issue all remaining P-EBT benefits by December 2023, and no new P-EBT money has been distributed since.7USDA Economic Research Service. The EBT system doesn’t distinguish P-EBT dollars from other benefits once they’re on a card.
Congress replaced P-EBT with a permanent summer program that Pennsylvania calls SUN Bucks, which provides $120 per eligible school-age child during the summer months.8Food and Nutrition Service.
