Pick the Right Transaction

  • Add Employee — a broker or company adds an associate to its roster, which activates the associate’s license under that qualifying broker.
  • Terminate Employee — a broker or company removes an associate, sending the license inactive.
  • Become Inactive — the associate voluntarily moves the license to inactive status and ends the relationship with the current qualifying broker.
  • Change Employer — the associate switches brokerages, which deactivates the old link and activates the new one in a single filing.

If you are moving from one brokerage to another, use Change Employer. Do not file a separate termination and a separate add.

What the RE 11 Does Not Handle

Name changes, address updates, and duplicate license requests belong on DBPR RE 10, not this form. If you married, divorced, or moved your mailing address, file the RE 10 instead. Filling Out the Form

Before you start, have your license number in hand along with the license number of the brokerage you are joining, leaving, or leaving from. The form has four sections.

Section I — Transaction Type

Check one box only, matching the four transactions above.

Section II — Associate Information

Enter your full legal name exactly as it appears on your license, your license number, and your contact information. Section III — Broker or Company Information

This section identifies the brokerage or sole proprietorship involved. You need the qualifying broker’s name, the company license number, the company name, and the broker’s phone and email.   • Add Employee: the new employer supplies the company information, and the qualifying broker signs.
  • Terminate Employee: the current employer supplies the company information, and the qualifying broker signs.
  • Change Employer: the new employer supplies the company information, and the qualifying broker signs to authorize the addition.
  • Become Inactive: the associate fills in the information for the firm being left, and no qualifying broker signature is required.

The inactive route is the only one where you do not need your broker’s signature. Every other transaction requires it.

Section IV — Affirmation by Written Declaration

The associate signs Section IV on every submission, regardless of transaction type. The signature carries the weight of a sworn oath, and the declaration warns that falsifying information can lead to criminal penalties or administrative action against your license, including fines, suspension, or revocation.2Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Submitting the Form

There are two paths. The fastest is for your qualifying broker to process the change through their DBPR online account. According to the Florida Real Estate Commission, when a broker adds you through their online account, the change takes effect in real time and you can work immediately.4Florida Real Estate Home – MyFloridaLicense.com. The 10-Day Deadline

Florida Statute 475.23 does not offer a grace period. Your license ceases to be in force the moment you change employers, and you have 10 days to notify the commission on the prescribed form.1Online Sunshine. Florida Code 475.23 – License to Expire on Change of Address In the gap between leaving one broker and being registered with the next, you are not authorized to practice.

Operating as a broker or sales associate without a valid and current active license is a third-degree felony under Florida Statute 475.42.5Online Sunshine. Between brokerages, do not show property, negotiate contracts, or collect commission until the new brokerage has registered you with DBPR.

Confirming the Change Posted

After submission, check your license through the DBPR verification tool. You can search by name or license number on the public portal, which shows your current status and the brokerage holding your license.7Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. If You Are Choosing Voluntary Inactive

Filing Become Inactive on the RE 11 keeps your license alive without requiring a qualifying broker. You can stay voluntarily inactive through multiple renewal cycles, electing to remain inactive when you renew.8Online Sunshine. Florida Code 475.183 – Inactive Status When you eventually reactivate, the commission prescribes up to 12 classroom hours of continuing education for each year the license was inactive. Choosing voluntary inactive is the controlled way to step away from practice without letting the license drift into an involuntary lapse.
