When You Actually Need the Number
The main reason to track down your EDDCAN is to finish registering for UI Online. You can create a myEDD account with just an email, password, and basic personal details, but registering for UI Online, the system where you certify for benefits and manage your claim, requires the account number along with your name, date of birth, and Social Security number.6CA.gov. Some claimants are registered for UI Online automatically after filing. If you sign in to myEDD and UI Online is already accessible, you may not need the number until EDD asks for it on a call or a form.
