Your Georgia Department of Labor account number is an eight-digit employer identifier in the format XXXXXX-XX, and how to find your GDOL account number depends on whether you’re an employer or an unemployment claimant. Employers can locate it on GDOL tax mailings or through the online Employer Portal. Individual claimants don’t have a personal account number — GDOL identifies you by your Social Security Number, and the state’s payer ID for tax reporting appears on your 1099-G.
Check Your GDOL Tax Mailings First
If your business has been operating in Georgia for at least a quarter, the account number is already sitting on paperwork GDOL has sent you. Two documents to look at:
- The Quarterly Tax and Wage Report (DOL-4N). Filed each quarter, it shows the account number near the top.
- The Annual Tax Rate Notice (DOL-626), which GDOL sends each year to inform you of your upcoming unemployment tax rate. The 2026 notices are available through the Employer Portal.1Georgia Department of Labor. 2026 Employer Tax Rates Available Now
The number sits in the header area or upper-right corner in the XXXXXX-XX format.2Georgia Department of Labor. Employer Portal Administrator Guide
Pull It From the Employer Portal
If you’ve gone paperless or can’t put your hands on a recent notice, the Employer Portal is the fastest route. Log in through GDOL’s employer portal page and the account number appears on the dashboard under your registered accounts.2Georgia Department of Labor. If You’re Locked Out
GDOL’s password reset page offers two self-service paths: a verification code sent by email, or your saved security questions.3Georgia Department of Labor. Reset Password Either gets you back in to see the number.
If neither works (a common problem when the email on file is stale), call the Employer Hotline at (855) 436-7365.4Georgia Department of Labor. If You’re an Unemployment Claimant
Individual claimants don’t get a separate GDOL account number. Throughout the claims process, GDOL identifies you by your Social Security Number, and the MyUI Claimant Portal uses your SSN as your login credential.5Georgia Department of Labor. If a tax preparer or software program is asking for the state’s identification number, that’s a different number and it’s on your Form 1099-G. GDOL issues the 1099-G each January to anyone who received unemployment benefits during the prior tax year.6Georgia Department of Labor. New Employers Who Don’t Have a Number Yet
If your business has never registered with GDOL, you don’t have an account number to find — you need to apply for one. Businesses with private, agricultural, or domestic employees can use the Online Employer Tax Registration system and receive the eight-digit number immediately upon completing registration.8Georgia Department of Labor. Some organizations can’t use the online system and must submit Form DOL-1A on paper: nonprofits, government agencies, businesses changing ownership structure, and businesses involved in mergers or asset acquisitions.
