Running the Search
The tool accepts either a typed address or a map click. Once you submit, it drops a pin on your home and lists the districts covering that point, including your state House district and state Senate district. Selecting the House result pulls up your representative’s photo, party affiliation, district number, and profile link. The maps reflect the redistricting adopted in January 2022, which took effect for the January 2023 term and redrew many boundaries, particularly in urban areas now connected with surrounding rural districts.
Why Your Full Address Matters
District lines routinely split neighborhoods, streets, and even apartment buildings. A five-digit ZIP code covers too much ground; a single ZIP can sit in more than one House district. Use your complete street address and, if possible, your ZIP+4. To confirm the result against your voter record, log in to the Kentucky State Board of Elections Voter Information Center. It shows your registration status, polling place, and assigned districts. What the Legislator Profile Shows
Each representative’s page on the General Assembly site lists party, district number, and any leadership title, such as Speaker of the House or Majority Floor Leader. Committee assignments are shown as well, which tells you what policy areas that member handles day to day, whether education funding, transportation, or the state budget.
Profiles also carry biographical and professional background. Kentucky uses a citizen-legislator model, so most representatives hold careers outside of government. Knowing your representative is a teacher, a farmer, or a small business owner gives useful context for how they approach policy.
Contacting Your Representative

For written contact, the General Assembly maintains a Contact a Member page with email forms.5Kentucky Legislative Research Commission. Contact a Member The form asks for your name and address so the office can confirm you’re a constituent. Always include your home address; legislators and their staff prioritize messages from people in the district. Replies usually come from legislative staff, though representatives often respond personally on issues they’re tracking closely.
To meet in person, the Capitol Annex in Frankfort is open to the public. The first floor and basement are accessible without an appointment; upper floors require scheduling in advance. Guided tours run Monday through Friday and can be arranged by calling 502-564-3449.6Kentucky General Assembly. During the 2026 session, House and Senate floor proceedings are meeting in a temporary structure while the Capitol is being renovated. When Contact Lands Best
Kentucky’s legislature meets on an alternating schedule. In even-numbered years like 2026, the General Assembly convenes for up to 60 legislative days and must adjourn by April 15. Your representative is most reachable during session and the weeks just before it. The Message Line is staffed while the legislature meets, and committee hearings that may take public testimony are concentrated in those windows. If you have a view on a pending bill, call while it’s still moving through committee, not after the floor vote.
House members serve two-year terms, so every seat is on the ballot in even-numbered years. That short cycle tends to keep representatives close to local concerns, and it’s part of why constituent contact through the Message Line or a district-verified email carries weight.
