How to Run the Search
The default field accepts an entity name. Type the LLC’s name, or a distinctive portion of it, and hit search. The tool is forgiving with partial names, so if you’re not sure of the exact wording, the key word from the name usually produces a workable list. Each result shows the entity name and its filing number as a clickable link.
If you have the filing number from the Articles of Organization or prior Secretary of State correspondence, use it. The filing number pulls up one exact record and skips the guesswork. An Advanced Search option is available when a name search returns too many results or you want to search by filing number directly.
Click the filing number on any result to open that LLC’s detail page. That’s where the useful information lives.
What the Record Shows
The detail page displays a handful of fields that matter whether you’re checking a potential business partner, confirming your own company’s standing, or preparing a legal filing.
- Status. The most important field. “In Existence” means the LLC is current on its filings and authorized to do business in Oklahoma. “Inactive” or “Dissolved” means it isn’t. A dissolved LLC has lost its authority to conduct business and can only take steps to wind down.

- Registered agent. The name and street address of the person or company authorized to accept lawsuits and legal notices for the LLC. Every Oklahoma LLC must continuously maintain one with a physical office in the state.3Justia. Oklahoma Statutes Title 18-2010 – Registered Office and Agent

- Filing history. A list of documents on record for the LLC, including amendments, annual certificates, and name changes.
What the Record Won’t Show
Oklahoma does not require LLC members or managers to be listed on the Articles of Organization. The filing only needs the LLC’s name, principal address, registered agent information, email address, and duration. Because ownership and management aren’t part of the filing, they don’t appear in the search results either. If you need to know who actually owns or runs an LLC, the Secretary of State’s database won’t tell you; you’d have to ask the company directly or obtain the information through legal discovery.
Operating agreements, financial statements, and tax filings are not part of the public record either. This is a registration database, not a window into internal operations.
Reading the Status Line
An “In Existence” status isn’t permanent. Oklahoma requires every domestic and foreign LLC to file an annual certificate confirming the business is still active and giving its current principal address. The annual fee is $25.5Oklahoma.gov. Register Your Business Missing that filing is the most common reason an LLC drops out of good standing, and it’s the first thing to check if a lookup shows anything other than “In Existence.”
An LLC that keeps missing its annual certificate will eventually face administrative dissolution. Once dissolved, the LLC loses the legal authority to do business in Oklahoma and can only take actions needed to wind down. People who keep operating a dissolved LLC risk personal liability for debts incurred during the dissolution period, which defeats the point of forming an LLC in the first place.
Reinstating a Dissolved LLC
If a lookup shows your own LLC as dissolved for missed annual certificates, reinstatement is available. Under Oklahoma law you file all delinquent annual certificates, pay all overdue fees, and submit a reinstatement application to the Secretary of State.6Justia. One catch. If another business registered your LLC’s name while you were dissolved, you won’t get it back. You’ll have to pick a new name that complies with Oklahoma’s naming rules before the Secretary of State will approve the reinstatement.6Justia. Getting Certified Copies
The free search is fine for a quick status check.
