To renew your Indiana professional license online, sign in to the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency’s MyLicense One portal within the 90-day window before your expiration date, confirm your information, attest to your continuing education, and pay the fee by card.1Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Set Up Your MyLicense One Account
The PLA is moving its online services from the legacy MyLicense system to MyLicense One, and the new portal requires an Access Indiana account.2Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. MyLicense One Guide If you haven’t used it before, create the Access Indiana account first, then link your existing license record. Each account is tied to one person and one email address, and the link is permanent, so verify your personal information before you confirm.
To link a license, choose the option to search for your record and enter two identifiers, such as your license number and date of birth. Whatever you enter has to match the PLA’s file exactly. If you hold both an individual license and a facility license, you can link both to the same account, but a facility license needs the unique registration code from your renewal notice rather than a Social Security number or date of birth.2Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. One transition detail matters: any application you began in the old system has to be finished there. You cannot resume it in MyLicense One, and pre-migration activity history won’t appear in your new account.2Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. MyLicense One Guide
What to Have Ready Before You Start
Gather everything before you log in. If your session times out or you step away mid-application, you may have to start over.
Your license number, and any registration code printed on the renewal notice the PLA sent you, let the system pull up the right record. A credit or debit card handles payment; fees vary by profession and are nonrefundable, so accuracy before you submit matters.
You’ll also need your continuing education straight. Most boards require CE as a condition of renewal, though hours and acceptable topics vary. Pharmacists, for example, must complete 30 hours per biennium, with at least half accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.3Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. You do not upload CE certificates during renewal. You submit a sworn statement that you’ve completed the required hours. After each renewal period, the PLA can randomly audit between one and ten percent of licensees, and if you’re picked, you need to produce the certificates. State law requires you to keep them for three years from the end of the licensing period they applied to.4Indiana General Assembly. Complete the Renewal Online
Once your account is set up and your license is linked, log in and choose the option to take action on your license. The renewal option only shows up if you’re inside the active window, which typically opens 90 days before expiration.1Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Nursing Licensing Information

- Confirming your current contact information. Keep this current, because the PLA sends mandatory expiration notices electronically when it has your email on file.5Indiana General Assembly. - Answering disclosure questions, which vary by profession.
- Attesting to your CE compliance.
- Paying the fee by credit or debit card.
Save the confirmation number after payment processes. That receipt is your proof of submission while the PLA updates your record.
Confirm the Renewal Took Effect
Check your status through the PLA’s free license verification tool at mylicense.in.gov/everification/. Anyone can search by name, license number, or profession, and the PLA treats it as an original source for accreditation purposes.6Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Once the tool shows the new expiration date and an active status, you can download a digital pocket card or print a certificate from your MyLicense One account for employers, insurance credentialing, or facility accreditation.
Renewal Notices and Deadlines
Indiana law requires the PLA to send a renewal notice at least 90 days before your license expires, by email if your address is on file and otherwise by U.S. mail. If the agency fails to send that notice, you cannot be sanctioned for failing to renew as long as you complete renewal within 45 days of eventually receiving notice.5Indiana General Assembly. If your license was issued less than 90 days before the end of a licensing period, it automatically extends through the next full period, so you aren’t forced into an immediate renewal. Within 30 days after a license expires, the PLA sends a second notice explaining what you need to do to reinstate.5Indiana General Assembly. If You Miss the Deadline
An expired license is invalid immediately, and you cannot legally practice until it is reinstated. What reinstatement requires depends on how long the lapse has been.
If your license has been expired for three years or less, you need to file the same renewal application, pay the current renewal fee, pay a separate reinstatement fee set by the PLA, and either attest to your CE compliance or complete any remedial requirements the board imposes.7Indiana General Assembly. If the lapse has run more than three years, the renewal fee still applies, but the reinstatement fee rises to match your profession’s initial application fee. The board can also require remediation and additional training based on how long you’ve been out of practice, and can impose any other requirements provided for by statute or rule.7Indiana General Assembly. These reinstatement rules do not apply to licenses that have been revoked or suspended. Those involve separate disciplinary proceedings with their own paths back to licensure.
Military Spouses and Servicemembers
If you’re in Indiana on military orders, you may not need to renew through the PLA at all. The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act lets servicemembers and their spouses use a valid professional license from another state while residing in Indiana due to a military relocation, provided the home-state license is current.8United States Department of Justice.
