Use USPS Informed Delivery as Your Tracker

To enroll, create a free account at USPS.com, opt in to Informed Delivery, and verify your identity and residential address. Once you’re set up, previews arrive by email each morning, and you can also check the dashboard on the website or in the mobile app.2USPS. Informed Delivery – Mail and Package Notifications It won’t pin down a delivery date, but you’ll see the envelope coming, and if it shows in the preview and then never lands in your mailbox, that’s a useful signal that something went wrong at the last step rather than at the MVC.
Confirm the Address on Your MVC Record
Most delivery problems start here. New Jersey requires you to keep a current address on file with the MVC, and address changes must be done online through the MVC.3NJ.gov. A USPS mail-forwarding order alone won’t reliably fix this. Your Interim Document While You Wait
You aren’t stuck without ID during the wait. If you applied or renewed in person, the MVC gives you an interim paper license at the agency. It won’t get you through a TSA checkpoint.
If Four Weeks Pass and Nothing Arrives
Give it the full four weeks before assuming a problem. The two-to-four-week window is an estimate, not a guarantee, and calling at week two will usually get you told to wait. After four weeks:
- Log into MVC online services and confirm the address on your record matches where you live.

Order a Duplicate if the Card Is Lost or Stolen

REAL ID and Air Travel While You Wait
