What You Can Use the Water For

Outdoor Uses

Watering the lawn, garden, or landscaping is the simplest and most common use. Washing the car, cleaning outdoor furniture, and topping up decorative ponds are all fine. Rainwater is also useful during the summer, when many Massachusetts communities impose outdoor watering restrictions. A few hundred gallons in storage lets you keep a garden alive without drawing on the municipal supply.

Indoor Non-Potable Uses

Toilet flushing and laundry are the most common indoor applications, and they can produce real savings in households with high water bills.
