Where the Permit Goes on Your Car

Zones and Rules the Permit Doesn’t Override
The city is divided into multiple parking zones. Posted signs on each block show whether a permit is required, which zone applies, and any additional restrictions. Your permit only works in your assigned zone. Parking in a different zone with a valid permit still earns a ticket.
Holding a permit does not exempt you from other parking rules. Fire hydrant clearances, crosswalk setbacks, driveway access, and posted street cleaning hours all still apply. Cars left in a sweeping zone during posted hours will be ticketed no matter what permit is on the windshield.
When Enforcement Runs

What Happens if You Ignore a Ticket
Unpaid citations grow. The city sends follow-up notices, and each notice adds at least $10 to the original fine. The notices keep coming until the balance is cleared, and a small ticket can become a large one quickly.
Unpaid summonses also block permit issuance and renewal, which is a real problem if you need street parking to get to work. Vehicles with excessive unpaid violations can be booted or towed. A tow adds the towing fee and daily storage charges set by the contracted operator on top of the original fines, and the total climbs into the hundreds fast.
