Lil Boosie Arrested: Houston Nightclub, San Diego Gun Charge

Rapper Lil Boosie was arrested most recently in late May 2026 in Houston, where he was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly striking a nightclub security guard in the head with a glass hookah base. Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr., who also records as Boosie Badazz, was released on $85,000 bond and is due back in a Harris County courtroom on September 15, 2026.¹ The arrest has also prompted federal probation officers to ask a judge in San Diego to revoke his supervised release and send him to prison for 18 months.²

The Houston Nightclub Arrest

The incident happened around closing time on May 24, 2026, at the Dome nightclub in downtown Houston. According to court records and news accounts, a security guard turned a woman away from the restroom as the club was shutting down near 2:00 a.m. The woman, described in one account as Hatch’s niece, allegedly elbowed the guard and dropped her belongings. When the guard bent to pick them up, someone hit him in the back of the head with a glass hookah base.¹ The wound required eight staples to close.³

A second security guard identified Hatch to Houston police as the person who swung the hookah, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on a felony aggravated assault charge.⁴ He was booked into the Harris County Jail, released on $85,000 bond, and appeared in court on June 1, 2026. His next hearing is set for September 15, 2026.¹

Hatch’s attorney, Carl A. Moore, said his client was “defending another person” during the altercation.¹ Hatch himself called the case a “money grab” on social media.³

Why the Federal Court Is Also Involved

Hatch was on federal supervised release when the Houston arrest happened. In January 2026, a federal judge in San Diego had sentenced him to three years of supervised release on a felon-in-possession-of-a-firearm conviction. On June 24, 2026, the U.S. Probation Office filed a petition alleging he violated the terms of that release in three ways: the Houston aggravated assault itself, traveling from Georgia to Texas without authorization, and testing positive for marijuana on a recent drug screen.²

The Probation Office recommended that the judge revoke supervised release and impose an 18-month prison term, to be served consecutively with any sentence Hatch receives in the Houston case.² That recommendation is not a ruling; a federal judge decides whether to revoke and what sentence to impose.

The San Diego Federal Gun Case

The supervised release Hatch now risks losing comes from a case that began on May 6, 2023. A San Diego police detective saw Hatch on an Instagram Live video that appeared to show a pistol in his waistband during a music-video shoot. Officers tracked the vehicle by helicopter and stopped it in the Chollas View neighborhood. Inside, they recovered two loaded 9mm handguns, a Glock 19 and a Springfield Hellcat. Investigators later linked Hatch’s DNA to both weapons and traced them to a purchase by his girlfriend in Georgia.⁵

The case moved between state and federal court and was dismissed once on constitutional grounds before federal prosecutors refiled it. On August 26, 2025, Hatch pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1), which carries a maximum of ten years in prison.⁶ On January 9, 2026, U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo sentenced him to time served, three years of supervised release, 300 hours of community service, and a $50,000 fine.⁵ In sentencing filings, Hatch pointed to a 2020 shooting in Dallas in which he was wounded as his reason for carrying a gun.⁷

Earlier Arrests and Convictions

Hatch’s criminal record stretches back well before the San Diego stop. The prior cases matter here because his status as a convicted felon is what makes the current gun conviction and its supervised release possible.

Angola Drug Sentence

Hatch pleaded guilty to third-offense marijuana possession and arrived at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola in 2009 to serve an eight-year sentence. The sentence stemmed from a probation violation; he had been on house arrest and left repeatedly to perform, reportedly to stave off promoter lawsuits, and the judge doubled his term when the violations came to light.⁸ While incarcerated, he also pleaded guilty to conspiring to bring drugs into a penal institution, which was rolled into his overall sentence.⁹ He was released on March 5, 2014, and remained on supervised parole through 2018.¹⁰

Baton Rouge Murder Acquittal

During his time at Angola, Hatch also stood trial for first-degree murder. Prosecutors alleged he paid $2,800 to Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to kill Terry Boyd, who was shot through the window of his home on October 20, 2009. The state relied on Louding’s jailhouse confession, phone records, and lyrics from Hatch’s songs “187” and “Bodybag.”¹¹ On May 11, 2012, after a six-day trial in Baton Rouge, the jury returned a unanimous not-guilty verdict in about an hour.¹²

2019 Georgia Traffic Stop

On April 8, 2019, officers in Newnan, Georgia, pulled Hatch over and charged him with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm, and failure to maintain a lane.⁹ He pleaded guilty to marijuana possession under a deal that dismissed the other charges, and he received six months of probation and a $1,000 fine with no jail time.¹³

Where the Cases Stand

As of mid-2026, Hatch is facing two active matters. The Texas aggravated assault charge is pending in Harris County, with the next court date on September 15, 2026. In parallel, the federal supervised release revocation petition is before the San Diego federal court, and probation officers have asked for 18 months in prison to run consecutively with any Texas sentence.² The two proceedings are expected to move forward on separate tracks, and neither judge has ruled.
