Louisa County Tax Map: GIS Portal, PDF Downloads, and Parcel Data

The Louisa County tax map is available online through the county’s free GIS portal at louisacounty.gov/gis, where you can look up any parcel by street address or by tax map number. If you want a printable version instead, the county’s Maps and GIS page offers downloadable PDFs organized by map grid.1Louisa County, VA. Online Geographic Information System (GIS)

Finding Your Tax Map Number

Every parcel in the county has a tax map number, and it’s the identifier the Commissioner of the Revenue uses to track ownership, assessments, and billing. Your annual real estate tax bill lists it, and so does any recorded deed on file with the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The Commissioner’s office assigns these numbers and updates them whenever property changes hands through a deed or will.2Louisa County, VA. Real Estate

If you don’t have the number handy, open the GIS portal and use the “Search By Address” field. The system returns the tax map number linked to that location.3Louisa County, VA. Tax Map Numbers If you already know the number, you can enter it directly and skip the address lookup.

Using the Online GIS Portal

The GIS tool lives at louisacounty.gov/gis and loads in any standard web browser. You can reach it directly or through the county’s Online Tools page.4Louisa County, VA. Online Tools Once the map loads, type a street address in the search bar to jump to the parcel. Standard toolbar controls let you zoom and pan by dragging the cursor. Clicking a parcel highlights its boundaries and opens a detail panel with the property information. If you only need the numbers and not the visual, you can switch to a data-only search.5Louisa County, VA. Maps and GIS

Downloading a PDF Tax Map

For a static, printable map, go to the Maps and GIS page. A clickable overview of the entire county is divided into grid sections; select an area and a PDF of that grid opens with parcel boundaries and map numbers visible.1Louisa County, VA. Online Geographic Information System (GIS) These PDFs are snapshots of the same underlying data. They don’t include search or clickable parcel details, so use them when you want a reference map for an area rather than a way to drill into a single property’s record.

What You Can See on Each Parcel

Clicking a parcel in the interactive GIS opens a window with the most recent assessed value for the land and any structures on it. The Commissioner of the Revenue maintains the record behind that display, including current owner information, mailing address, and assessment changes used for billing.2Louisa County, VA. Real Estate

The GIS also carries overlay layers you can toggle on and off, including zoning classifications, floodplain boundaries, and topographic features. These are the layers to check if you’re weighing a purchase or thinking about a building project on the parcel.5Louisa County, VA. Maps and GIS

If you want to know how a value on the map was calculated, Virginia law gives you the right to inspect the working papers the assessor used, including comparable sales, capitalization rates, and any other factors considered.6Virginia Code Commission. When the Map Updates and When You Can Appeal

Louisa County reassesses real property on a roughly five-year cycle. When a reassessment is done, updated values flow into the land book and then into the GIS. If your assessment changes, the county has to mail you a notice before the new value takes effect.7Virginia Code Commission. Virginia Code 58.1-3330 – Notice of Change in Assessment

The appeal deadline for the most recent reassessment cycle is March 31, 2026. If the new value on your parcel looks wrong, act before that date; the deadline is firm. Real estate taxes based on these values are due annually on December 5.8Louisa County, VA. Calendar and Rates

Whenever a deed or will transferring a parcel is recorded with the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Commissioner updates the land book and the corresponding tax map records.2Louisa County, VA. Real Estate After a recent purchase, it’s worth checking the GIS to confirm the transfer posted correctly before your first tax bill arrives.
