Miami-Dade Police Phone Numbers: 911, Districts, and Tips

The main Miami-Dade Police phone number for non-emergencies is 305-743-7433 (305-SHERIFF). For anything involving immediate danger, call 911. One note before you dial: the agency formerly known as the Miami-Dade Police Department now operates as the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO), effective January 7, 2025, after voters approved Florida’s Amendment 10 and elected a sheriff in November 2024.2Miami-Dade County. When to Call 911 vs. Non-Emergency

Florida law designates 911 as the sole emergency number, and no agency is permitted to promote any other number for emergency response.3Florida Legislature. Florida Code 365.171 – Emergency Communications State Plan Use 911 for crimes in progress, injuries, fires, or any situation where seconds matter.

For everything else, use one of the two non-emergency lines:

Both lines are staffed around the clock. Dispatchers prioritize by severity, so a noise complaint won’t leapfrog an in-progress burglary, but your call will still be logged and routed.

District Station Phone Numbers

Filing a Report Online Instead of Calling

For minor incidents, the MDSO’s online reporting form can save you a phone call. It only accepts reports when all of these are true: no known suspects, no weapons involved, and no injuries. The incident must have happened in unincorporated Miami-Dade County or in the Town of Cutler Bay, Village of Palmetto Bay, or Town of Miami Lakes. Incidents on Miami-Dade County school property or on a state or federal numbered highway or freeway cannot be reported this way.
