What to Have Ready Before You Call
Representatives verify identity before discussing any account details. Save yourself a second call by pulling these together first:
- Your Social Security number, or Federal Employer Identification Number for business calls
- A copy of the return in question, with tax year, filing status, and amounts reported
- Any notice or letter you received, especially the notice number printed on it, which is how the representative pulls up your case
