The Navarro County District Clerk’s office is the recordkeeper and filing point for the district courts in Corsicana, Texas. The office keeps every pleading, motion, order, and judgment from Navarro County’s district courts. It collects filing fees and court costs, issues writs and subpoenas, and manages the jury pool. Looking Up Court Records Online
Navarro County uses the Odyssey Public Access portal for online case searches. You can look up criminal, civil, family, and probate records by party name or case number.3Tyler Technologies. Navarro County Courts Records Inquiry The portal shows docket entries, hearing dates, and case status. Public search terminals are also available at the courthouse during business hours.
What the portal generally does not show is the full text of filings. If you need the actual document, whether a petition, motion, or signed order, request a copy directly from the clerk’s office.
Getting Copies of Court Documents
Texas law sets what the clerk can charge. A certified copy, sealed and accepted by government agencies and other courts as proof of what the record says, costs $5 for the certificate and seal plus $1 per page. A non-certified paper or scanned copy is $1 per page. Electronic copies of electronic documents cost $1 for the first ten pages and $0.10 for each additional page. The certified-versus-uncertified distinction matters in practice. A divorce decree you’re submitting to change your name on a driver’s license needs to be certified. A copy for your own files does not.
Filing a Case
To start a civil suit, a family law matter like divorce or custody, or to answer a lawsuit filed against you, submit your document to the clerk. The petition or answer should list the full legal names of all parties, current addresses, and a clear statement of what the case is about and what you’re asking the court to do. Electronic Filing
Attorneys must file electronically through eFileTexas.gov in all Texas district courts. Self-represented parties can e-file but aren’t required to; the courts must continue accepting paper filings from people without lawyers.6South Texas College of Law. Rule 21 Filing and Serving Pleadings and Motions Paper filings can be delivered in person to the clerk’s office or mailed to the courthouse. E-filing typically produces an electronic receipt, which is worth having.
Filing Fees
The base filing fee for a new civil suit is $350. Family law cases also carry a $350 base fee.7Navarro County. Navarro County District Clerk Filing Fees Service of process, meaning having a constable or sheriff deliver your citation to the other party, is billed separately.
Redacting Sensitive Information
Before you file, redact sensitive personal data. Under Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 21c, that includes Social Security numbers, driver’s license and passport numbers, tax identification numbers, bank and credit card account numbers, birth dates, home addresses, and the names of anyone who was a minor when the case was filed. The clerk won’t reject a filing for containing unredacted data, but the office can flag it and set a deadline for a corrected version. In the meantime, the document is blocked from public internet access.8Texas Judicial Branch. If You Can’t Afford the Filing Fees
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 145 lets you file a “Statement of Inability to Afford Payment of Court Costs” instead of paying upfront. The statement must be sworn or signed under penalty of perjury.9Texas Judicial Branch. Court Issues Final Amendments to Rule 145 and Related Rules With Forms
You’re financially eligible if you receive needs-based public benefits such as SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, SSI, or Section 8 housing assistance, or if a legal aid provider has found you eligible for its services.10Texas Judicial Branch. Statement of Inability to Afford Payment of Court Costs If none of those apply, you can still request a waiver by disclosing your monthly income, property, expenses, and debts to show you cannot pay. The opposing party can challenge your statement, and if they do, the court must give you at least 10 days’ notice before a hearing.9Texas Judicial Branch. Jury Duty
The District Clerk summons jurors for the district courts. Your summons will list the reporting date, time, and courtroom. Read it carefully. Showing up at the wrong court can create scheduling problems for you and the court.
Who Qualifies
Texas requires jurors to be at least 18, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Texas and of Navarro County, qualified to vote, of sound mind and good moral character, and able to read and write. You’re disqualified if you’ve been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor theft, or if you’re currently under indictment for either.11State of Texas. Exemptions You Can Claim
Even if you qualify, you can ask to be excused if you:
- Are 75 or older
- Have custody of a child under 12 and serving would leave the child without adequate supervision
- Are a secondary school or college student currently enrolled and attending
- Are the primary caretaker of someone who cannot care for themselves
- Are active-duty military deployed away from your home station and county

Juror Pay
Texas pays a minimum of $20 for the first day of service and at least $58 for each additional day.2Texas Judicial Branch. District Clerk Manual 2023 Edition The first-day rate is noticeably lower than later days, which catches people off guard.
Passport Applications
The District Clerk’s office has operated as a passport acceptance facility, meaning staff can witness your DS-11 application and forward it to the U.S. Department of State. Call 903-654-3040 before visiting to confirm passport services are currently offered and whether an appointment is needed.

- Proof of U.S. citizenship: a certified birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or prior passport
- Photo identification such as a valid Texas driver’s license or other government-issued ID

Fees and Timing
A first-time adult passport book is $130 to the State Department plus a $35 execution fee to the acceptance facility. A passport card alone is $30 plus the same $35 execution fee.14U.S. Department of State. United States Passport Fees for Acceptance Facilities Expedited service adds $60.15U.S. Department of State. Passport Fees Standard processing currently runs roughly six to ten weeks including mailing time; expedited runs about two to three weeks. If you’re traveling within 14 days and have proof of urgent travel, the State Department offers emergency appointments at regional passport agencies.
Child Support Payments Don’t Go Through the Clerk
Even if a Navarro County district judge signed your child support order, the clerk’s office does not collect the payments. Federal law routes all child support through a centralized State Disbursement Unit.
