The North Las Vegas Police non-emergency number is 702-633-9111. Use it any time you need police help but nobody is in immediate danger and no crime is actively unfolding. The line is staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year.1Nevada Attorney General. Law Enforcement Agencies For a true emergency, dial 911 first.
When to Call 702-633-9111 Instead of 911
The simplest test: if someone could get hurt in the next few minutes, call 911. If the situation is frustrating or concerning but not immediately dangerous, the non-emergency line is the right number.
Typical reasons to use 702-633-9111:
- Property crimes already over and done with: an overnight car break-in, a stolen porch package, fresh graffiti on a fence. The suspect is gone, so there is nothing for arriving officers to interrupt.
- Noise and neighbor problems: loud music, barking dogs, ongoing nuisances that disturb the peace without threatening safety.
- Minor traffic collisions with no injuries where vehicles are not blocking the road.
- Suspicious activity that does not involve immediate danger, like an unfamiliar car parked on your street for days.
- Animal complaints. Dispatch at 702-633-9111 takes these calls and can route an Animal Protection Officer to contact you.2City of North Las Vegas. Animal Protection Services
When you genuinely cannot tell whether something is an emergency, call 911. Dispatchers can downgrade a call; they cannot undo a delayed response.
What to Have Ready Before You Dial
Calls move faster when your details are organized. The first question is almost always where the incident happened, so have the street address or nearest cross-streets ready. Expect to answer what happened and when.
If another person was involved, be ready with approximate height, build, hair color, clothing, and the direction they went. For anything involving a vehicle, a license plate number is the single most useful detail you can offer, followed by make, model, and color. Write these down as soon as you can after the event. Memory fades fast, and even small details can match surveillance footage or line up with other reports.
Keep your own name and a callback number ready too. An officer may need to follow up.
Filing a Report Online Instead of Calling
For certain low-level incidents that have already happened, you can skip the phone entirely and use the city’s online reporting system. The following report types can be filed online:3City of North Las Vegas. File a Police Report
- Theft or larceny without force, such as a bicycle taken from a yard.
- Theft from a vehicle, locked or unlocked.
- Burglary from a structure such as a shed or garage.
- Vandalism or property damage.
- Vehicle tampering, like keying or a broken window, where nothing was taken from inside.
- Graffiti.
- Harassing phone calls that are repeated, threatening, or obscene.
- Lost property, meaning items you misplaced rather than had stolen.
A few boundaries apply. The incident must have happened inside North Las Vegas city limits and not on a state freeway, Clark County School District property, or a state college campus. Stolen license plate reports and traffic accident reports cannot be filed online.3City of North Las Vegas. File a Police Report

Don’t Call 911 for Non-Emergencies
Using 911 when you know there is no emergency is a crime in Nevada. Knowingly calling 911 or any emergency telephone system when no actual or perceived emergency exists is a gross misdemeanor. If the false call triggers an emergency response that leads to someone’s death or serious bodily injury, the charge becomes a felony, and the caller can be held liable for the government’s response costs.7Nevada Legislature. Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 207 – Miscellaneous Crimes
Filing a knowingly false crime report is a separate misdemeanor under Nevada law when it triggers a criminal or internal investigation.8Nevada Legislature. Nevada Revised Statutes 207.280 – False Reporting of Crimes Unlawful A false report can also expose the caller to a civil suit for the cost of the investigation and any harm done to someone wrongly accused.
