Every Oregon PERS Phone Number

The toll-free line handles most member needs, but PERS runs separate numbers for health insurance, deferred compensation, and employer questions. Dial the right one up front and you avoid being transferred.

Hours and Holidays

Phone lines are open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.1State of Oregon. PERS – Contact Us The Tigard office building opens at 8:00 a.m. on the same weekday schedule. PERS closes on state holidays, so expect no phone or in-person service on days like Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Labor Day.

What to Have Ready

Every call starts with identity verification. Keep your Social Security number and PERS Member ID at hand. Your Member ID appears on the Annual Member Statement that PERS mails each year. A representative can look you up by Social Security number alone, but having both moves the call along.

Then pull together anything tied to the reason you’re calling:

  • For a retirement estimate, know your planned retirement date.
  • For a beneficiary change, have the full legal name and date of birth of each person you want to add.
  • For direct deposit setup or changes, have your bank’s routing number and your account number.
  • For questions about service time, have any pay stubs or employer records that show the dates in question.

Reporting a member’s death requires a phone call so PERS can start the survivor benefit process.3State of Oregon. Member Death for Tier One/Tier Two

When You Don’t Need to Call

Many routine tasks are faster through the Online Member Services portal at orion.pers.state.or.us. You can view your account balance, read your Annual Member Statement, update your address, and send secure messages to PERS staff.

Secure messaging through the portal is the right channel for sensitive documents such as tax forms or copies of identification. Regular email isn’t secure enough, and PERS won’t exchange confidential account details that way. If you can’t log in and need a password reset, submit a question through the Member Services page on the PERS website or call the main line.1State of Oregon. PERS – Contact Us
