An Oregon senior fishing license costs $34 for 2026 and is available to residents who are at least 70 years old and have lived in the state for five consecutive years.1Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. Pioneer and Other Licenses for Seniors Longtime Oregonians may qualify for a much cheaper pioneer license, and seniors who hunt can bundle both privileges together.
Who Qualifies
Two conditions apply to the senior angling license, and both must be met: you have to be 70 or older, and you have to have lived in Oregon for at least five consecutive years before the date you apply.2OregonLaws – Public.Law. 2026 Prices

- Senior Angling License — $34. Covers freshwater and saltwater fishing statewide.
- Senior Combination License — $56. Bundles angling and hunting privileges. Cheaper than buying the two separately.

All three run on the calendar year, January 1 through December 31, no matter when you buy them.5Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. Licensing Info A license bought in October still expires at the end of December.
Tags and Endorsements You May Also Need
The base license covers general fishing. Targeting certain species or fishing certain waters means buying add-ons. These apply to any license tier, though the pioneer license already includes the two endorsements below.

A worked example: a senior fishing for salmon on the Columbia River needs the senior angling license ($34), the combined angling tag ($69), and the Columbia River Basin Endorsement ($9.75), for a total of $112.75. A pioneer license holder pays $10 plus the $69 tag, because both endorsements are already built in.
How to Buy
ODFW sells licenses through its electronic licensing system at MyODFW.com and through the MyODFW mobile app for Apple and Android.7Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. ODFW’s Electronic Licensing System (ELS) Buy online and you can print the license or pull it up on your phone right away.
You can also buy in person at any ODFW office or authorized vendor. Many sporting goods stores and outdoor retailers around the state are vendors.8Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. How to Buy a License or Tag Bring your prior license or your hunter/angler ID number. Without the ID number, the vendor can look you up by last name and date of birth.
First-time online buyers need to create an account with a valid email and Social Security number for verification. If you’ve held any annual license since 2016, you probably already have a profile. Free Fishing Days
Oregon sets aside several weekends a year when no license is required.
