Renew Your PA Driver’s License: Online, Mail, or REAL ID Upgrade

To renew your PA driver’s license, submit Form DL-143 online, by mail, or in person at a PennDOT Driver License Center, pay the fee, and then visit a Photo License Center to have your new picture taken. The Three Ways to Renew

Online

Go to PennDOT’s Online Driver and Vehicle Services page. You will need your driver’s license number, the last four digits of your Social Security number, your date of birth, and a credit or debit card. The form asks medical-history questions about conditions that could affect your ability to drive safely, and PennDOT uses your answers to flag any need for further evaluation. After you submit, print the receipt. That receipt is your temporary driving document until the camera card arrives.4Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Online Driver and Vehicle Services

Online renewal is not available if you hold a commercial driver’s license, if your license has been expired for six months or more, if your information on file is outdated, or if you have a “Valid Without Photo” license.5Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
