Revere Street Parking Rules: Permits, Sweeping, and Snow Bans

Parking on a Revere street requires a free digital resident permit for any vehicle left out between midnight and 6 a.m., and a layer of other rules covers street sweeping, snow emergencies, hydrant and crosswalk clearances, and the state-controlled stretch along Revere Beach Boulevard. The core Revere street parking rules are enforced by the city’s Parking Clerk through license-plate-reader cameras, a system that replaced windshield stickers in March 2025.1City of Revere. The Overnight Resident Permit Rule

Every city-managed street in Revere is resident-permit-only from midnight to 6 a.m., every day except holidays. Without a valid digital permit tied to your plate, you can be ticketed in those hours even if you are parked legally in every other way.1City of Revere. Office of the Parking Clerk

A few neighborhoods are enforced 24 hours a day rather than overnight only. Posted signs mark these zones near Shirley Avenue, Beachmont, and Wonderland, and a permit is required at all times inside them.1City of Revere. Office of the Parking Clerk

Since March 2025, the permit is fully digital. It attaches to your license plate, and enforcement officers verify compliance through plate-reader cameras. No sticker, no hangtag. Once your plate is in the system, you are covered.1City of Revere. Office of the Parking Clerk

Hydrants, Crosswalks, and Intersections

Permit or no permit, some clearance rules apply on every Revere street. You cannot park within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, on any crosswalk, or within 20 feet of an intersecting street. Alleys are the only intersection exception.2City of Revere, MA. City of Revere Code – Chapter 10.32 Stopping, Standing and Parking Generally – Section: 10.32.010 Where Prohibited Partial obstruction counts. Blocking even part of a crosswalk or a sidewalk is enough for a citation.1City of Revere. Office of the Parking Clerk

In city-owned parking lots, no vehicle, trailer, camper, or boat trailer may remain for more than 24 consecutive hours.3City of Revere, MA. City of Revere Code – Chapter 10.32 Stopping, Standing and Parking Generally – Section: 10.32.215 Extended Parking of Motor Vehicles This limit applies only to municipal lots, not to on-street residential parking.

Street Sweeping Season

Street sweeping runs April 1 through December 31.4City of Revere. What Is the City of Revere’s Street Sweeping Schedule? Posted signs indicate which side of each street is swept on which day. A car on the wrong side when the sweeper comes through will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.5City of Revere, MA. City of Revere Code – Chapter 10.32 Stopping, Standing and Parking Generally – Section: 10.32.240

The towing charge makes this one of the costliest everyday violations, before you even add the fine. Schedules can differ block by block, so a street you often park on may be swept on a different day than your home street.

Snow Emergency Bans

When Revere declares a snow emergency, a parking ban takes effect at the announced time. Depending on signs in your neighborhood, vehicles may only park on one side of the street (odd or even), or both sides must be cleared. Ticketing and towing begin the moment the ban starts, so waiting for the storm to actually arrive is already too late.1City of Revere. Office of the Parking Clerk

Residents can move their vehicle to MBTA lots at a discounted rate while a ban is active. The discount ends the moment the ban lifts, and standard pricing kicks back in immediately.6City of Revere. During a Snow Emergency Parking Ban, Where Can I Park My Car? Residential streets outside the ban zone are another option, though spots fill fast in dense neighborhoods. Anything that blocks snow removal operations will be ticketed and towed.7City of Revere. Winter Weather Information

Revere Beach Boulevard Is Not City Jurisdiction

Revere Beach Boulevard is managed by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, not the city. Tickets issued along the shoreline go through DCR’s system, and the Revere Parking Clerk cannot resolve them. For DCR ticket questions, call 617-626-1419 or email dcr.parkingoffice@mass.gov.8City of Revere. Revere Beach Permit Application

A four-hour limit applies along the boulevard from Eliot Circle to 320 Revere Beach Boulevard, and no parking is allowed from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on that stretch.9Department of Conservation and Recreation. Revere Beach Reservation Metered parking runs at roughly $1.25 per hour. Paying the meter does not buy you more than four hours; time and payment are enforced separately. A separate Revere Beach resident permit covers specific inland-side spots and is distinct from the citywide digital permit.8City of Revere. Revere Beach Permit Application

Getting the Citywide Resident Permit

The permit is free, but two things must be in order first. Your Massachusetts vehicle registration has to show the vehicle garaged in Revere, and you need proof of your Revere address: a utility bill, apartment lease, water bill, or another document the Director of Parking accepts. If you lease, bring your driver’s license, a utility bill, and the lease agreement, all showing your Revere address.10City of Revere. Residential Parking Program

All outstanding motor vehicle excise taxes and parking violations owed to the city must be paid in full before a permit is issued.11City of Revere, MA. City of Revere Code – Chapter 10.34 City-Wide Resident Parking Sticker Program – Section: 10.34.030 This catches people off guard. The system will block your application until the balance clears, so check with the Treasurer’s office before you apply.

You can apply online through the City Hall Systems portal or in person at the Parking Clerk’s office at 300 Broadway. Online applications typically open in the first week of February. Prior-year permits are honored into the new year and expire March 1.1City of Revere. Office of the Parking Clerk

Vehicles That Cannot Get a Permit

Several types of vehicles are excluded from the resident program:

  • Taxis, livery cars, and any vehicle with commercial, dealer, or repair plates
  • Buses, campers, and any vehicle longer than 25 feet
  • Trailers not attached to a vehicle with a valid resident permit
  • Cars used for Uber, Lyft, Zipcar, Turo, and similar rideshare or rental services
  • Passenger-plated trucks carrying visible tools or equipment such as ladders, landscaping gear, plumbing supplies, or snow-removal equipment in the bed or on the exterior

That last category trips up contractors who live in Revere and keep a work truck at home. If a permitted vehicle is found carrying visible tools, the permit is revoked immediately.12City of Revere, MA. Appealing a Ticket

You have 21 days from the violation date to file a written appeal with the Parking Clerk. Appeals go in through the city’s online form, by mail to the Office of the Parking Clerk at 300 Broadway, Suite 2, Revere, MA 02151, or in person at the same office.1City of Revere. Office of the Parking Clerk

Some arguments will not get a ticket thrown out. Not seeing the sign, being parked only briefly, having a clean prior record, thinking the fine is excessive, or noting that other cars were not ticketed are all treated as invalid defenses.1City of Revere. What Happens If You Ignore a Ticket

A $10 late penalty is added after 21 days, and another $20 is added at 45 days, stacking on top of the original fine for each individual ticket.1City of Revere. Office of the Parking Clerk

The real escalation comes from the state. When you fail to respond to two or more parking notices, the Parking Clerk notifies the Registry of Motor Vehicles, which then blocks your vehicle registration renewal and your driver’s license renewal until every outstanding violation is resolved. A $20 RMV charge is added on top.13General Court of Massachusetts. General Laws Part I Title XIV Chapter 90 Section 20A Revere participates in the statewide Non-Renewal Program, so the hold is automatic.14Mass.gov. Non-Renewal Program

At five or more unpaid violations, your vehicle can be towed, impounded, or booted at your expense until the balances are cleared.13General Court of Massachusetts. General Laws Part I Title XIV Chapter 90 Section 20A Between stacking late fees, RMV holds, and impound costs, a forgotten $25 ticket can turn into hundreds of dollars and a suspended registration. Paying or appealing inside the 21-day window is by a wide margin the cheapest option.
