The Seattle Housing Authority’s main phone number is 206-615-3300, and the central office sits at 101 Elliott Ave W, Suite 100, Seattle, WA 98119. Lines are staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and closed on federal and state holidays.1Seattle Housing Authority. Contact Us SHA has run affordable housing programs in the city since 1939, including public housing, senior housing, and the federal Housing Choice Voucher program.2Seattle Housing Authority. History Each program has its own direct line, so dialing the right one from the start saves a transfer and another wait.

A frequent mix-up is worth flagging. The admissions line at 206-239-1737 handles public housing and senior housing applications only. If you hold a Housing Choice Voucher or want your spot on the voucher waiting list checked, call 206-239-1674 instead. Dial the wrong line and you’ll be transferred, usually to the back of another queue.
Landlords in the voucher program should use the Landlord Liaison line at 206-239-1672 for questions about Housing Assistance Payments, tenancy approval, lease terms, or rent increase requests, rather than starting at the central number.3Seattle Housing Authority. Landlords Email reaches the same team at landlordsupport@seattlehousing.org.
Office Hours and the After-Hours Line
The central office and voucher departments are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Offices close for federal and state holidays. Expect an automated phone tree before you reach a person during business hours. If hold times run long, you can leave a voicemail with your name, your ID number, and a callback number, and plan on a couple of business days for a return call. More complicated requests take longer. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings tend to be lighter than Monday mornings or late-week afternoons.
Outside those hours, the after-hours emergency maintenance line at 206-443-4440 covers urgent repair problems: flooding, loss of heat, electrical hazards, and similar safety issues in SHA-managed units.4Seattle Housing Authority. How Do I Submit a Maintenance Request? It is not a general information line and should not be used for application questions, rent questions, or routine repair requests.
Voucher holders renting from private landlords should know this line does not cover their units. The landlord is responsible for repairs on a privately owned unit, not SHA.5Seattle Housing Authority. Inspections
What to Have Ready Before You Call
SHA has to verify who you are before anyone pulls up a record. Have your full legal name and the last four digits of your Social Security number in front of you. If you’ve been assigned a voucher number, a household ID, or a resident T-Code, keep those too. They appear on official correspondence, rent statements, and annual recertification notices.
For an ongoing issue, the name of your assigned housing counselor, certification specialist, or property manager helps the receptionist send you straight to that person instead of a general queue. Dates on any previous notices or letters give the representative something concrete to look up, which beats a broad search through your file.
When the Portal Is Faster Than the Phone
Not every question needs a call. SHA’s online portal handles a lot of routine business for applicants, tenants, and landlords.6Seattle Housing Authority. What Is the SHA Portal? Applicants can submit a Housing Choice Voucher application, update an existing one, or change their contact information. Current tenants can report household or income changes, submit recertification paperwork, pay rent, message their property manager or certification specialist, and submit maintenance requests. Landlords use the same portal to manage property accounts, request tenancy approval, pull 1099 forms, and request rent increases.
If your question is a routine update or a document submission, the portal usually beats waiting on hold. Save the phone for things that need back-and-forth, that involve a dispute, or that the portal doesn’t cover.
Language and Accessibility Access
Callers who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability can reach SHA through 711 or 1-800-833-6388.1Seattle Housing Authority. Contact Us Use either number in place of the standard voice lines above, and the relay operator will connect you to the department you need.
Mailing Address and Rent Payment Address
The physical office at 101 Elliott Ave W, Suite 100, is the right address for in-person business, but it is not where rent goes. SHA does not accept rent payments at the central office.7Seattle Housing Authority. Paying Rent Mailed rent payments go to Seattle Housing Authority, PO Box 84025, Seattle, WA 98124-8425, with your resident T-Code written as the account number. Your T-Code appears on your monthly rent statement; if you can’t find it, the central office at 206-615-3300 or your property manager through the portal can look it up for you.
