Other Ways to Fish Without a License

Age isn’t the only path to fishing without a license. Several other groups are exempt regardless of how old they are:

How to Get a License Once You Turn 16

You can buy a New York fishing license three ways, and it’s valid immediately:

Have your full legal name, current address, and date of birth ready. For a resident license, you’ll need proof you’ve lived in New York for more than 30 days, typically a New York driver’s license or non-driver ID showing a valid NY address. Penalties for Fishing Without a License
