Georgia’s 14th Congressional District covers the northwest corner of the state, running from the Tennessee and Alabama borders south and east into the Atlanta exurbs. The cities in Georgia’s 14th District include Rome and Dalton as the two largest population centers, along with dozens of smaller cities and towns spread across roughly a dozen counties.
The Largest Cities
Rome, the seat of Floyd County, is the district’s largest city with a population of roughly 37,000. It sits at the confluence of three rivers in the foothills of the Appalachians and serves as a regional hub for healthcare, education, and retail across northwest Georgia. The city anchors the western half of the district.
Dalton, in Whitfield County, is the other major city and is widely known as the carpet capital of the world. Roughly 75 percent of the world’s carpet and rugs are produced in and around Dalton, and flooring manufacturing is the economic backbone of the surrounding area.
Dallas, the county seat of Paulding County on the district’s southeastern edge, has grown rapidly as part of the greater Atlanta metro area. Nearby Hiram, also in Paulding County, shares that suburban growth pattern. These communities look and feel different from the more rural towns further north and west.

Cities: Aragon, Bremen, Buchanan, Calhoun, Cave Spring, Cedartown, Chatsworth, Chickamauga, Cohutta, Dallas, Dalton, Eton, Fairmount, Fort Oglethorpe, Hiram, Jasper, LaFayette, Lookout Mountain, Menlo, Plainville, Ringgold, Rockmart, Rome, Rossville, Summerville, Tallapoosa, Temple, Trenton, Tunnel Hill, Varnell, and Waco.
Towns: Braswell, Lyerly, Ranger, Resaca, Talking Rock, Taylorsville, and Trion.
Several of these are county seats that serve as local government and commercial centers. Calhoun is the seat of Gordon County, LaFayette is the seat of Walker County, Summerville is the seat of Chattooga County, and Chatsworth is the seat of Murray County. Fort Oglethorpe and Ringgold, both in Catoosa County near the Tennessee line, sit adjacent to the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and draw visitors year-round.
