A charge on your card labeled “Sherrill Blvd” or “Sherrill Boulevard Knoxville” almost always traces back to 9721 Sherrill Boulevard in West Knoxville, Tennessee, where several businesses operate. The three realistic sources are Apex Bank, which uses the address for loan and mortgage payments; a Hertz car rental location at the same address; and discovery+, whose parent company Warner Bros. Discovery occupied the campus before Apex Bank bought it in 2023.1Apex Bank. Matching the Charge to the Right Business
Start with the amount and the pattern of billing. A recurring monthly charge in the size range of a mortgage or loan installment points to Apex Bank. The bank relocated its corporate headquarters and national mortgage-servicing division to 9721 Sherrill Blvd., Suite 200, Knoxville, TN 37932, and uses that address for all loan payments. Customers were told to update both mailing and electronic bill-pay records to this address.2Apex Bank. A one-time charge that appears a week or two after a trip to Knoxville likely came from Hertz. The company operates a rental location listed as “Knoxville, Tn – Sherrill Blvd” at 9721 Sherrill Blvd.3Hertz. A small monthly charge, especially one where the merchant name also mentions “Discovery” or “WBD,” is likely a discovery+ streaming subscription. If It’s a discovery+ Subscription
Canceling discovery+ depends entirely on how the subscription was originally purchased. If you signed up through Google Play, you have to cancel inside Google Play’s subscription settings. If you signed up through Apple or Amazon, cancellation happens through that platform. Only subscriptions bought directly from discovery+ can be canceled through the service’s own account page.8Google Play Community. How Do I Stop Auto Renew on Discovery Plus discovery+ itself cannot cancel a subscription that a third-party app store is billing, which is a common point of frustration.
Refunds are limited. The discovery+ terms of use state that subscription fees are generally non-refundable and that the company does not provide credits or prorated billing when a subscription is canceled. A subscription provider may issue a refund or discount at its discretion, but is not obligated to do so again.9Warner Bros. Discovery. Discovery Plus Terms of Use For direct subscriptions, billing questions go to help@discoveryplus.com. For third-party billing, you have to contact the app store or provider.
The service has drawn complaints on this exact pattern. The Better Business Bureau profile for discovery+ shows 44 complaints filed in a recent three-year period involving difficulty canceling, continued billing after attempted cancellation, and charges consumers say they never ordered. Forty of those 44 complaints were marked unanswered by the company.10Better Business Bureau. Discovery Complaints
Disputing an Unrecognized or Unauthorized Charge
If none of the businesses above match, or the charge was never authorized, start with your credit card issuer. The issuer can often pull up the merchant’s full legal name or a contact number, which usually settles what the charge is for. If it turns out to be unauthorized, open a formal dispute.
Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you must send a written dispute notice to the credit card company within 60 days of the statement date on which the charge appeared.11Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. How Do I Dispute a Charge on My Credit Card Bill The card company then has 30 days to acknowledge the dispute and must resolve the investigation within two billing cycles, and no more than 90 days. If the charge is confirmed as an error, it has to come off. If the company finds the charge valid, it must explain why in writing. Your maximum liability for unauthorized credit card use under this law is $50, and many issuers waive even that.
Tennessee residents have a second option. The state Division of Consumer Affairs runs an informal mediation program for disputes between consumers and businesses, reachable at consumer.affairs@ag.tn.gov or 615-741-4737.12Tennessee Attorney General. File a Complaint The division mediates rather than advocates, and advises consumers who stay unsatisfied to continue the dispute through their card company.
