You can buy Florida Lottery tickets any time an authorized retailer is open, but each draw game stops selling several minutes before its drawing, and a ticket bought after that cut-off automatically counts toward the next drawing. So the real answer to what time you can buy lottery tickets in Florida depends less on store hours and more on which game you’re playing and when its sales window closes. Florida has more than 13,000 authorized retailers, including gas stations, grocery stores, and convenience shops, and tickets are sold only in person at those locations.1Florida Lottery. Cut-Off Times for the Big Jackpot Games
Every Florida draw game pauses sales before the balls drop so the system can process entries. Buy after the cut-off and your ticket rolls into the next scheduled drawing.
- Florida Lotto: Sales close at 10:55 p.m. ET on Wednesday and Saturday. Drawing at 11:15 p.m. ET.
- Powerball: Sales close at 10:00 p.m. ET on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Drawing at 10:59 p.m. ET. A five-minute sales break runs from 10:00 to 10:05 p.m. ET, and anything bought after goes toward the next drawing.
- Mega Millions: Sales close at 10:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday and Friday. Drawing at 11:00 p.m. ET. The same five-minute break applies, with tickets after 10:05 p.m. ET counting toward the next drawing.
- Jackpot Triple Play: Drawings Tuesday and Friday at 11:15 p.m. ET.
The Powerball and Mega Millions breaks exist because the multi-state lottery organizations need time to collect sales data from dozens of member lotteries before drawing. Walk into a store at 10:02 p.m. on a Powerball night and your ticket is for the next drawing, not the one coming up an hour later.2Florida Lottery. Florida Lottery Help Center Draw Games FAQ
Fantasy 5 Cut-Off Times
Fantasy 5 runs two drawings every day of the week. The midday sales cut-off is 12:45 p.m. ET for a 1:05 p.m. ET drawing, and the evening cut-off is 10:55 p.m. ET for an 11:15 p.m. ET drawing. The 20-minute buffer makes this one of the more forgiving games if you’re arriving close to drawing time.2Florida Lottery. Florida Lottery Help Center Draw Games FAQ
Pick 2, Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5 Cut-Off Times
The Pick games draw twice daily at approximately 1:30 p.m. ET and 9:45 p.m. ET. Because the four games draw in sequence rather than at once, each has its own cut-off, staggered by one minute.
Midday cut-offs (1:30 p.m. ET drawing):
- Pick 2: 1:17 p.m. ET
- Pick 5: 1:18 p.m. ET
- Pick 3: 1:19 p.m. ET
- Pick 4: 1:20 p.m. ET
Evening cut-offs (9:45 p.m. ET drawing):
- Pick 2: 9:32 p.m. ET
- Pick 5: 9:33 p.m. ET
- Pick 3: 9:34 p.m. ET
- Pick 4: 9:35 p.m. ET
The windows range from 10 to 13 minutes before each drawing, so don’t assume one cut-off covers all four games.2Florida Lottery. Florida Lottery Help Center Draw Games FAQ
Cash Pop Cut-Off Times
Cash Pop is Florida’s most frequent draw game, with five drawings a day. Each sales cut-off is just one minute before the drawing:
- 8:45 a.m. ET drawing: sales close at 8:44 a.m. ET
- 11:45 a.m. ET drawing: sales close at 11:44 a.m. ET
- 2:45 p.m. ET drawing: sales close at 2:44 p.m. ET
- 6:45 p.m. ET drawing: sales close at 6:44 p.m. ET
- 11:45 p.m. ET drawing: sales close at 11:44 p.m. ET
A one-minute window leaves essentially no room for last-second runs to the register. If Cash Pop is your game, you need to be at the counter well before the drawing time.3Florida Lottery. Cash Pop
Buying for Future Drawings in Advance
If tracking cut-offs sounds like a hassle, advance play lets you buy entries for several future drawings at once. Florida Lotto allows up to 52 consecutive drawings in a single transaction, which covers roughly six months of Wednesday and Saturday draws.4Legal Information Institute (LII) / Cornell Law School. Retailer Hours, Holidays, and Where You Can Buy
The lottery’s central system runs for most of the day, but your actual ability to buy depends on a store being open near you. A 24-hour gas station gets you late-night access; a grocery store that closes at 10 p.m. won’t help if you’re racing a 10:55 p.m. Lotto cut-off. Many retailers run reduced hours or close entirely on major holidays. The Florida Lottery app and website both include a retailer finder that shows nearby authorized locations, which is worth checking before a last-minute trip.
One boundary worth knowing: Florida Lottery tickets are sold only through authorized retailers in person. You cannot buy them online or through the Florida Lottery mobile app. The app lets you create digital playslips, check winning numbers, and find retailers, but it does not process payments.1Florida Lottery. Help Center – Florida Lottery Third-party courier services that offer to buy tickets on your behalf are not authorized either. The Florida Lottery shut down a courier called “The Lotter” in late 2024, and using an unauthorized courier risks fraud, loss of winnings, and legal trouble for both the courier and the retailer involved.5Florida Lottery. You also need to be at least 18 to buy any Florida Lottery ticket, whether from a clerk or a self-service machine, and payment is cash or debit at any retailer. Credit cards are allowed only when you’re buying at least $20 of other merchandise in the same transaction.6The 2025 Florida Statutes. Florida Code 24.118 – Other Prohibited Acts; Penalties7Justia.
