If you have a federal extension (Form 4868), you don’t need to mail Form IT-303 at all. The federal extension automatically extends your Georgia filing deadline. Attach a copy of the federal 4868 or the IRS confirmation to your Georgia return when you file it later.2Department of Revenue. Requesting an Extension If you expect to owe tax by April 15, mail your payment with Form IT-560 to the extension address above, because an extension to file is not an extension to pay.

What to Include in the Envelope

For a return with a balance due, you need three things in the envelope: your signed Form 500, Form 525-TV payment voucher, and a check or money order payable to “Georgia Department of Revenue.” Write your Social Security number on the check so it can be matched to your return if the pages separate.

Don’t staple the check to the voucher or the return. The processing center scans paper filings, and staples jam the equipment. Use a paper clip to hold everything together.

For a refund return, mail the signed Form 500 along with your W-2s, 1099s, and any supporting schedules that show Georgia withholding. The withholding figures are among the most common error points the Department flags for manual review, so double-check that what you entered on Form 500 matches what appears on your wage statements.

Amended returns go in their own envelope to PO Box 740318. If the amendment produces more tax owed, enclose a check with your SSN written on it. Amended filings are reviewed manually and take longer than original returns.

How to Send It

Deadline and Late Mailing

The deadline for Georgia individual income tax returns for tax year 2025 is April 15, 2026.3Department of Revenue. Tax Due Dates If your envelope goes out after that date without an extension on file, two penalties can run at the same time: a late filing penalty of 5% of the tax due per month (or part of a month), capped at 25%,8Justia. Georgia Code 48-7-57 – Penalties for Failure to File Timely Return and a late payment penalty of 0.5% per month, also capped at 25%.9Justia.
