To run a Wyoming adjuster license lookup, use the Sircon License Inquiry Service, the tool the Wyoming Department of Insurance uses for all public license verification. You can search by the adjuster’s full legal name, Wyoming license number, or National Producer Number, and the results show current license status, lines of authority, and any recorded disciplinary actions.1Wyoming Department of Insurance. Where to Run the Search
Wyoming contracts with Vertafore’s Sircon platform rather than the NAIC State Based Systems portal that many other states use. The Wyoming licensing portal on sircon.com links directly to the License Inquiry Service for individuals, agencies, and companies.2Vertafore. Wyoming Licensing Portal You can also reach the same tool from the Department of Insurance’s Agents, Agencies, and Adjusters page.3Wyoming Department of Insurance. Agents, Agencies, and Adjusters
If you go looking for Wyoming on statebasedsystems.com or sbs.naic.org, you won’t find it. That’s a common dead end. Sircon is the only online option for Wyoming.
What to Have Ready
The cleanest search uses the adjuster’s National Producer Number or Wyoming license number. The NPN is a unique identifier assigned through the NAIC licensing process and usually appears on claim correspondence, licensing documents, or an adjuster’s business card.4National Insurance Producer Registry. Look Up a National Producer Number If you only have a name, that works too, but common names return more results to sort through, so having the employing company or agency on hand helps you pick out the right person.
On the inquiry page, select Wyoming as the jurisdiction and the appropriate entity type (individual for a person, organization for a firm). Enter what you have and submit. Click a result to open the full license detail page.
If nothing comes back, check your spelling and try a different identifier. An adjuster who only holds a nonresident license in another state, and who has never been separately licensed in Wyoming, won’t show up here at all.
Reading the Results
The detail page shows a status that tells you whether the person currently has authority to adjust claims in Wyoming.
- Active: current license, fees paid, continuing education satisfied. This is the only status that authorizes claim handling in Wyoming.
- Lapsed: the renewal deadline was missed. Wyoming allows reinstatement within twelve months without retaking the exam, but the adjuster has to pay a penalty on top of the regular continuation fee.5Wyoming Legislature. Wyoming Code Title 26 – Insurance Code
- Revoked or Suspended: the Department has taken formal action. The adjuster cannot legally handle claims in Wyoming.
- Inactive or Cancelled: the license was voluntarily surrendered or allowed to expire past the reinstatement window.
Anything other than Active on an adjuster currently working your claim is worth questioning. You can ask the insurance company to assign a properly licensed adjuster and report the situation to the Department of Insurance.
The detail page also lists issue and expiration dates and any recorded administrative actions. A recorded action doesn’t automatically mean the adjuster is barred from working today, but it’s a prompt to read the order or call the Department for context.
Checking the Line of Authority
A Wyoming license isn’t a blanket authorization. Each license carries specific lines of authority that limit which claim types the adjuster can handle. The three main categories are property, casualty, and crop.6National Insurance Producer Registry. Wyoming Non-Resident Adjuster Licensing – Individual An adjuster licensed only for property claims cannot evaluate a casualty loss, and the reverse holds too.
Match the line to your claim. For a homeowner’s claim after storm damage, confirm the property line is listed. Wyoming requires that an applicant holding the property line also hold or apply for casualty, so most property adjusters will show both. Crop adjusters are licensed separately and cannot hold the property line at the same time.6National Insurance Producer Registry. Wyoming Non-Resident Adjuster Licensing – Individual
Red Flags and Filing a Complaint
If the lookup shows a lapsed, suspended, revoked, or cancelled status, or if the lines of authority don’t cover the claim being adjusted, you have grounds to raise it with the insurance company and the state. Complaints go through the Wyoming Department of Insurance consumer portal.7Wyoming Department of Insurance. Have your name and contact information, the adjuster’s name and company, your policy and claim numbers, and a written description of the problem ready when you submit. The Department can investigate whether Wyoming insurance law was violated and take administrative action, but it cannot give legal advice, decide fault, or set a dollar value on your claim.
When to Call the Department Instead
If Sircon is down, if a search returns nothing when you expect a result, or if the record looks incomplete, the Department’s Producer Licensing Section can verify an adjuster by phone or email. Call 307-777-7319 or email insurancelicensing@wyo.gov with the adjuster’s full legal name, license number if you have it, and any known business affiliations.9National Insurance Producer Registry.
